View Full Version : HORRIBLE pain today!!

OMG, you guys, I swear today is the WORST my pain has ever been. (Yes, I dropped off a urine sample to see if it's an infection... the in-office test said no, but nurse sent it out for culture anyway).
My bladder hurts so much... it hurts in front near the pubic bone, down into my crotch, all along my vulva, all the way back to my butt.
Worse, my IBS is at it again too, so my intestines hurt as well. It's odd, I can feel the IC and IBS completely separately today, and both are REALLY painful :(
On top of it, I have wicked joint pain, especially my right knee (that pain literally woke me up this morning) and my left ankle. So weird.
I took a Darvocet -- it dulled the pain a little, but it still hurts quite a bit. I may go out on a limb and take a second pill (I can take 2 every four to six hours but I almost never take 2, I usually just wait it out... but today I don't know if I can take it!!!!) I also took a Urised, which has antispasmodics in it.
I really hope it quits soon :( :(

Jen,
I'm sorry you feel so lousy. Sounds like you've been hit with a double whammy too. I've been feeling yucky also, not at my worst. I think my body is turning things down(darn those sympathetic nerve fibers) after last week being awful and thie fact that I get to take a trip with the inlaws to West Point where my brother in law is graduating from. My husband is also an alumnus and he is going to give him the oath of office. I just realized I have not flown since I've been diagnosed. It's the red-eye to JFK and I'm thinking they should allocate me a bathroom.LOL;) That was a funny. I still think we ought to a Road Rules-IC (good way to raise awareness, and we are to old for the MTV one. We could also do a reality show-Real World I Gotta Pee--we could do it Nashville--they haven't done that city yet. A final idea--Survivor, Hilton Head and show the world our trips to the doctor. Hee-hee. I hope you feel better soon, Jen.
Hugs,
Barb

Jennnn... I'm so sorry that you're flaring. Yowza! I'm having sympathetic pain just reading your post... but even my IC is flaring today. So, I totally relate.
Have you read our "coping with flares" in our handbook. It might help. You can find that at: http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/. Scroll down the page and you'll find it on the bottom left of the page.
When I'm in serious pain, I stop what I'm doing... put my feet up.. use heat...use my meds.... and just chill out. Don't push yourself to do things. Sometimes resting is the best thing that you can do.
Take a moment to think about anything that might have changed in the last 48 hours. Let's see if we can figure out what triggered it too. Period??? Ovulation??? a new vitamin????
Jill :)

Hey Barb... thanks for the laughs :) I needed them tonight. I think the Survivor show about our dr. appts is a GREAT idea. I don't know many people that could put up with this many dr. visits and procedures!! Ok... I am going to go take another pain pill & a hot bath, and then I am going to try to get some sleep! More later....
Oh... wait... before I go.. I read about your smallpox lesion this morning! How bizarre!! Do they have you on anything???

Jen,
I am on Tequin(for about 2 weeks) the governments el cheapo for Levaquin. Luckily, the area that its in is actually underneath my breast and next to my bra--so I didn't expose anyone else. They did an in-the-office biopsy since the differential diagnosis for a lesion that looks this way can also be cutaneous t-cell lymphoma. 90% sure it was small pox and the brighter side of things, I will have life long immunity now. Hope your night gets better--we are leaving Las Vegas at 12:35 am so I trying to stay awake.
Hugs,
Barb
I hope your feel better soon. I know when I was working all the extra hours at work, my IC was flaring......

Could it be a seasonal thing? I've been flaring today too. But I'm due for a DMSO tomorrow so that will probably help.
I hope tomorrow will be better.
Warm hugs,
Donna

wow lots of us flaring :( I have tried to determine what I did or did not in last 3 days and only thing different is work is real busy and my son got sick. Donna I think your point is interesting about seasonal. On monday when I went for my install my doctor said she has had several patients coming in and calling with worse symptoms and she wondered if allergy season had something to do with it. :grouphug: huggs and prayers for all of us ,

It could definitely be seasonal... I have a lot of allergies. They are under control with meds, but I notice that now that my respiratory system cannot respond to allergens because of the meds, the allergies are expressed in other places instead... my skin, my digestive system, and yes, probably even my bladder. My mother is convinced that this is an allergy thing for me as well.
Anyway, I'm still feeling pretty lousy today, so I decided to take a sick day. It seems that as long as I am lying down and being relatively still with my heating pad, I can handle it... if it doesn't get better in a day or two I am going to call the uro's office. He's on vacation until June 6, but there's gotta be a contingency plan of some sort :)
Hi gals, there must be something in the air this week, I too have had a few problems with IC this week, I am having a check up tomorrow, so will find out what is going on. Sorry to read that so many of us are dealing with this pesky IC this week. Hope everyone starts to feel a little better soon, take care everyone, hugs Iris.:(

Hi Alexis,
Thanks for asking! :) It WAS painful... I am still wondering what got it started, since it's not period time, I'm on the pill so I don't ovulate, etc.
I think I am starting to feel a little better now after taking a sick day and resting all day. I took numerous hot baths, and have put myself back to the very strictest phase of the IC diet (only stuff from the "Usually OK" column, except for soy, which I know gets me). I've also been taking my pain meds & antispasmodics.
I still have some pain, but it is lessening, I think... I think my IBS flare has ended, at least. My IC however, is taking its sweet time right now, but at least I've got some relief.
Hopefully I can get a good night's sleep tonight (I was up around 6 or 7 times AT LEAST last night)...

Well, I was feeling much better last night, only got up once to go pee in the night, and this morning I felt great.
Then I ate an English muffin with butter because we were out of bread. The package tipped over and as I fixed it, I noticed that these muffins apparently have VINEGAR in them. Hubby must not have seen it either when he shopped for IC food yesterday. Anyway, by that time it was too late, I'd eaten all but one bite of the muffin!
So I was okay for a few hours, and then I am assuming the muffin made it to the bladder, because I went right back to terrible pelvic pain and burning. The frequency hasn't started up again yet, but if this is like all my other flares, it will soon...
*GRUMBLE*
So now, it is damage control time... another pain pill, a Urised, and a whole ton of water... and some Prelief for good measure. And also leaving work early for heating pad and bed if necessary!
I AM SO SICK OF FLARING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jen,
Please do take care of yourself. Go home if you have to. Contrary to popular opinion in my lab, the work can wait!! I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Jen, hope you went home and got the old heating pad going, God bless them, I know mine has had a lot of use this week. Hope you start feeling better soon. I am amazed at how many things that have vinegar as an ingredient, I used to love english muffins, do not eat anymore. Take care and hopefully flare will let up soon, hugs Iris.:hi: :grouphug: :flower:
