I guess it is a good thing that I only get my period every two to three months because my IC symptoms worsen with periods.

I am wondering how many other IC patients have irregular periods.

I have had an MRI that showed multiple cysts on both ovaries which I am assuming is part of the pain I feel when they burst etc. They must build up over the two to three months that I wait anxiously for my period. I have tried BC pills but have had adverse reactions to them. I bleed every day while on BC pills and I have tried several doses.

I guess I am just looking for a connection to IC and Irregular periods.

Inbetween periods I have different phases of discharge.
sometimes there is a gel like substance that can be quite large and stringy. I know this can happen during ovulation sometimes myurine is cloudy or appears to have shredded tissue like debris in it.
During my period I have a major decrease in my ability to control the flow of urine.

How does your period affect your IC?

I don't have Irregular periods but I really wish I had none at all I hate the week before it starts and the week of my peroid it is so painful for me. first off i'm like a totally diff person My family see it and so do I. I hurt i'm ill and want to be left alone.

I always get an infectoin a true UTI a week before my peroid and no matter what we do to try to break up the infection it refuses to leave until my peroid is gone.

I have had all the children I believe the dear lord will bless us with I have a boy age 11 a girl age 10 another little man age 6 plus we are raiseing our nephew who is 14 plus i had a tubeable.

I tried taking the Pill full cycle(no sugar pills) that was when I was bleeding all the time... but the idea was to eliminate the period. maybe it would work for you.

Very much so. My periods started to become irregular right around the time I started having I.C. symptoms. The first month I was really late was last December, when I was having the most burning and frequency. The few months that followed were normal. Once again in April, I had a mid cycle, one day period, and another 39 days later. I assume I'm premenopausal because of my age.

I also get that stringy discharge, but my urine is clear and it has always been clear from the beginning. There was only one time that a trace of blood was found in the urine at the doctor's office, and that was when I was at my worst.

My burning subsides during my period, when the flow is heaviest on the 2nd day, but I start burning viciously when the period is just finishing up. I've been check for endometriosis and it's okay.

Was just asking Becky last week how you we're doing.... :)

I have stopped my periods altogether by taking the pill non-stop. I had changed pills in the past several times because it would stop working and my period would just *break-thru*...ack. I don't miss my periods, no more cramps, bloating, IBS, related UTI's and of course all the regular mess and dealing with pads and tampons...yuck. I can surely say my IC is a bit better now without periods :D

Kim please tell a doc about this. Although it may be common with us with some of us it was a sign of another illness.

TakeCare hun I hope you are ok

Before my hysterectomy, my periods were irregular. They have been since I was a teenager!

Well the pill proved to not work for me. We kept increasing the dose but i was bleeding daily. after 4 months we gave up.
I have been crazy trying to get my back back in shape. last summer I tore a disc between L4 and L5(relates to the bladder too) MRI showed arthritis in my Lumbar Spine and Multiple cysts on both ovaries. Had a follow up ultrasound and the cysts were just cysts. Dr. is not too concerned but I feel it really affects my daily health.
I am always looking for a connection with this crap. someday I will get a PHD... after I clean out the basement.
I can't help but make the connection of getting spinals/epidurals with childbirth and miscarriages and now having arthritis in my lumbar spine. that is exactly where they inject the needle.arthritis in my lumbar spine! doesn't that seem logical?

Hurts like hell now.:(

I hope you find some relief. Has the doctor considered a hysterectomy? I used to bleed all the time. After the hysterectomy, they said I had a condition called adenimyoma. Spelled wrong. basically, I bled into the muscle of the uterus, which was very painful.

one dr. (my primary) mentioned a hyterectomy.
How would you say a hysterectomy has changed your life? Good and Bad?

Diagnosed in Jan, I now am seeing irregularities in my periods. I thought I had really screwed up w/ diet as I was flaring so bad, but then had a little bleeding and realized it was my IC because of my period. Then the bleeding stopped for four days and then started back! I've always been very regular until this IC came along!

I have had irregular periods since a year before I got IC. Funny thing is with my mom stress caused her to miss hers for 8 months, which was the same thing that happened to me about 5 years ago when I was only 18. Have no idea if mine is related to IC or not though.
Wish you luck in finding out answers :)
