Could I ask for prayers please. My husband and I are in the process to adopt a toddler. We are expecting the phone call any day now. Once we get the call we will be traveling to an orphanage in Eastern Europe. I am in a flare right now. It is making me nervous, because where we are going is a poverish area. They dont have toilets, they have holes in the ground. Right now it is painful to pee and I have to really relax to go. I am worried about finding restrooms, and about being able to communicate about food and bottled water. And recently I have had a new problem that the specialist thinks is ulcerative colitis. I had a flex scope done, and now have a colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday. I really need to be healthy for travel. The travel dates wont be negotiable. I believe prayers work, so please pray for me. I want to bring a child home more than anything.

I'll say a prayer for you.

I suggest you try some Travel Johns for your trip. You'll find them at http://www.ic-network.com/shop/ I always carry one in my purse if I'm going to be anywhere there won't be restrooms. They're very easy to use.

Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

Thank you all, I slept much better last night after I read your responses. I am sure everything will settle down in time.
And yes Donna I think ordering those portable johns will be wise. Even if I am not flared up when the time comes, I don't want to be stuck trying to hold it till I find a restroom.
thank you so much for your support.

I am so much better. Thank you for your prayers. I had a colonoscopy on Thursday and I think the findings were much better than we thought. I don't think the Dr. thinks it is ulcerative colitis now, but I wont know more till the biopsy comes back. I was so stoned from the anesthesia (sp?) that I don't remember what he said. The symptoms have calmed down as well. Thank God.
My IC flare that got started from testing if I could tolerate a bannana, has settled down some as well. There is still some discomfort, but it is tolerable. I am just very tired still.
Prayer works. It dosn't make things perfect, but it always makes me stronger in some way.
I feel much better now. Im not 100%, but I can travel when they call.
We have not heard anything yet. We are just waiting for THE call.
I was just thinking the other day about when we bring this child home. He wont be use to processed food...the way I cook these days with the IC diet will be good for him. I make a lot of my bread and I avoid so much junk that most kids eat these days. See there is something good in most things if I look deep enough.
Thanks again for the prayers and I don't mind if you keep them coming.
Thanks for asking Michelle

Got an e-mail today from our agency.
Worker said we should hear in a couple weeks. She said we are the next family on the list to travel!
This is good, gives me more time to get this burn to settle down and ask for continued prayers. For a year I couldn't wait to get this close in our adoption, now Im grateful for a couple more weeks, so I can get healthy. I want to be feeling good when I bring that little angel home. So if I could ask for continued prayers and if you could say one for our child to be that he is comfortable tonight and not hungry.

Thanks

 Many prayers for you are coming your way. How exciting this is for you and your family.

Just a thought in regards to your feelings about the old "squatty potty". Why not take a skirt or two to wear when the "western " johns are not available. Just drop the undies to one side...straddle the holes and let loose. Awww...what a relief!!!!!:biglaugh:

I GOT THE PHONE CALL TODAY! We leave on the 21st of this month. I can't believe it, I thought it would be a month from now according to their last e-mail, but its in 2 weeks!
We asked for a boy between 0-4. Where we are going, we will go to the orphanage to find him. Please keep praying for me. I need prayers for finding him and prayers to be strong. It is going to be hard. I can only take one. Every child should have a mommy and a daddy. I need to be strong to do this. I will need prayers for my IC. I am suppose to start instillments on wednesday. I will only be able to get 2 before I go. oh I want to be healthy.
Thank you all so much. It is such a great help. God is Good!

Thank you so much. Today was such a good day. No pain today, no burning. I even went out shopping. I haven't felt up to that in a while. I have just been dragging myself to work and home latley. I bought a suit case for our trip and I went to buy a bottle and a sippy cup. Our instructions said to bring these items.
Oh my gosh I didn't know there were sooo many types. I was like, do I get the insulated one, or the one that turns color when you put liquid in it, or the one with dinosaurs?....then do I get the bottle with the natural like nipple, and does that mean they are un-natural if they don't say natural like nipple? My husband saw I had a little ducky in my hand that you press its tummy and it quacks. He just said "I thought we just came for a sippy cup and bottle". I said "ya". I put the ducky down. He left the aisle, didn't even help me figure out which darn nipple to get. What nerve huh?
We got out to the car and guess who pulls out a ducky out of his bag. Yep Mr. "I thought we just came for a sippy cup and bottle". Yep he was sitting in the car quacking away.

Oh that is so cute. :) i only got the natural looking nipple when i was breast feeding the i believe most women do this for the same reason.
I loved the little bottles with the bags less air gets in the tummy so less gas and more happy babies.
I can't get over what you said about your husband that was so cute and sweet.
sending you hugs and prayers.
i'm also glad you had a good day.

Congradualtions! :D :D I will  for you too. Take care of yourself. I hope you feel better. I hope you have a safe trip with no complications. I think the best bottle are the bags ones too. You don't have to worry about sterilizing them and it gets the air out so less gas! Just like Rhonda said. Wow you must be so excited. I know I would be. You can always email or pm me if ya want for any questions you may have. I've got 3 beautiful kids myself. Also Rhonda seems to be the gal to know. She always has great info and advice and so do all of the ladies here. I sure have learned a lot. Good luck with your trip, and bringing home your new little one! Take care - Chris
