Wasn't sure where this went so I apologize if it's in wrong place.
Does any ic'er have myofacial something or does anyone know what website I can go to for info?
I am having horrible pain in my jaws and ears. Don't know what it is: sick-cold w/ ear inf., or tmj which I've never had before. It really hurts.
Thanks, may we all have a wonderful weekend,
  Julie

I have had T.M.J before and its really painful i really feel sorry for you hon.
I believe you need to get to the dentist asap to get treatment for it.
I'm sorry i don't know where there is a website for it but if you can't get to the dentist your family doctor can help you with some of the pain issues just to make sure it isn't an ear infection.
please let us know how you are
SEnding you hugs and prayers
Rhonda
I have tmj , and damage to my left side. Due to an injury from a m16 rifle placed against my left earwhile i was in the usmc. My jaw pops out on the left side when opening or yawning, following with a loud cracking noise. It's sooo uncomfortable. I'm getting physical therapy for it now so I'll try to keep you posted.
TMJ is a pain to get a diagnoses because it has to be significant range. First seek your dentist or a specialist, cuz it may even be coming from your neck(cervical spine). They just discovered after nine years that my discs are disinergrting in the 5th, 6th, vertebrae. Immediately go seek treatment and good luck!!! :)
best wishes

I hope that you don't have Chronic Myofascial Pain to deal with in additon to IC. I was diagnosed with this syndrome in March. It affects my neck and back from my sholders to my lower back. It is extremely painful. I take muscle relaxants daily for it and do exercises given to me by my Physical Therapist. I did 2 months of physical therapy and got some improvement but most of the pain is still there. The therapist said to continue to exercise daily for 3-4 more months and see if there is any improvement. If not I return to the doctor but I am not sure what else they can do. I am sorry you are feeling badly and I hope you feel better soon. My pain specialist has been very helpfuyl to me with this terrible syndrome. I was diagnosed by an orthopedist but I think my situation is a little different then yours because my myofascial pain affects my back. Goodluck. Keep us posted.

Thanks so much for answering my questions so quickly. I was trying to play dr. on myself and figure out if I had tmj or myofacial, only I don't know what myofacial is! I was told I have tmj within the last 6 months and the pain has come and gone. I never saw the dentist bc when I called for the appt. they said it would be about $800.00 if it was tmj. I was thinking this pain may be different. But then again, I've had a sore throat and ear aches so I've been trying to ignore and pray the pain goes away. It's been about a wk. Have anyone ever tried to ignore, pray pain away, like it wasn't really there? I just don't have any more money to spend on any more treatments or meds, it's sky high now and I'm having a rough time making ends meet.
This time my pain is from ears to chin, to under and above jaw line. Extremely tender. I tell you, if it not ic flare, or bad enough w/ ic it's something else. I also have other illnesses that go along with ic and am so tired of not feeling well.
thanks so much for listening and being such great friends,
Julie:love: :toosh: ;) `
When I was in a car accident 10 years ago, I had a whiplash injury in my neck and low back. After over a year of constant pain and limited movement, I went to an aquatic physical therapy center (Timpany Center in San Jose, CA). The physical therapists gave me exercises to do on land and in a heated pool. They told me they were using techniques specific to myofascial pain including WATSU (Water shiatsu massage in the heated pool).
I began to feel improvement after only 3 sessions and was pain free in 3 months.
This was after 9 months of traditional therapy had failed and I was told to "learn to live with it", while still having to take 12 advil a day & muscle relaxants. Within the 3 months I was off all daily pain meds...
I don't know much more than that, except that the aquatic center did quite a bit of work with car accident patients like myself and fibromyalgia patients...
