Hi Christine,

I think some people are sensitive to pool chemicals... like chlorine, etc. I don't know how you maintain a salt water pool so I do not know if you use chemicals for that or not. But if so, you might be sensitive to them, and they may cause you to flare.

We have a hot tub and my husband maintains it with bromine, instead of chlorine, and that is supposed to be gentler. He also uses the lowest levels of the bromine sanitizer he can without turning the hot tub into a bacterial culture. :) I'm usually okay with it, but once, I slipped while in the hot tub and one of the jets sprayed me directly in the urethral/vaginal area. I flared all the next day when that happened. So now I'm extra careful in there!!

Yeah, UTI's on top of IC are really nasty!! I had a UTI in April and I was in so much pain... I know you must be feeling pretty awful right now :( I hope it settles down soon for you, and that your pain decreases.

And I hope the pool is not the cause of your symptoms... with all this hot weather coming along that pool is going to be a lifesaver :)

I AGREE....I HAD THE POOL LAST YEAR NEVER NOTICED. I ONLT WAS DIAGNOSED 2 MOS AGO...BUT HAVE HAD SYMPTOMS A WHILE. I FIND I GO IN THE POOL AND I END UP WITH MORE PRESSURE THEN HAVING TO GO PEE..WEIRD ISNT IT?

Being in a pool definately increases my frequency -- both while I am in it and for a few hours after I get out. But being in a hot tub decreases my frequency. Go figure.

Don't know about the salt water, but while I was on vacation and in the ocean, my frequency did not increase.

We have a pool that uses salt too. The salt turns into chlorine & that may be what you are having problems with. Also, remember to change out of your suit & shower off the pool water as soon as you ca, don't stay in a wet suit. Hugs, Kathi:toosh:

Ok so if it turns into chlorine it would cause me to feel I have to constantly pee with the IC possibly? Interesting. I have YET another ques..you all are always on the ball so before calling the dear old uro, your it. In cae you dont remember, or dont know, I went to ER Saturday (as per all your advise) and I have a UTI...since that day or day after Ive had sweating episodes and feeling really cold on and off. Today I still have the pressure, and am sweaty and cold. I was suppose to go to a friends and I had gottenm so nauseas I couldnt go, I threw up a few times instead. I hadnt taken any meds so it wasnt that. When my daughter laid down (she is 2) I did too...I woke up and am feeling somewhat sore around my body...I cant tell it is NOT a flu bug...is it from the infection or should I call the uro about anything? Had my dmso treatment Dri...Sat at ER with UTI and now this feeling.. Im coming to you all for advise..thanks you always help.

Yikes, it sounds like it might be from the infection. I know that when I get a UTI I'll run a low-grade fever, but if it starts spreading to my kidneys, I have a lot of back pain, and my fever starts to spike... once, with a kidney infection, I had a fever of 104 degrees. The odd thing about fevers from kidneys is that they'll spike up, then go down some, then spike up, etc... and that always leaves me feeling sweaty or cold. I also usually end up nauseated and vomiting if my kidneys start to become infected.

I would call the doctor if I were you, Christine... it's possible you need a different antibiotic than the one they gave you at the ER.

I'm praying for you and hoping you feel better soon.... :grouphug:
