vaginal pain

Ever since ive had my ic symptoms, i have noticed that sex not only hurts my bladder and urethra, it hurts my vagina. even when I was younger and less sexually active, sex never hurt for me. Now, there is intense pain in my vagina when he enters me and it remains during the whole process. I remember someone talking about a specific name for this condition....? We have tried using lots of lube, and it helps a little. Also, me being on top helps a bit.

anyways, what im really wondering is if anyone knows the name for this condition? anyone actually have it? i would love to here about it so that i can talk to my doc. thanks for your help.

If you're menopausal age, it could be that your tissues have become dry and not flexible. A hormone cream, such as estrace, might help if that's the case.

It could also be vulvodynia, which is some nonspecific inflammation of the vulva... or it could possibly be the beginnings of pelvic floor dysfunction, where your pelvic muscles get tight and hard and make sex painful. I think it used to be called "vaginismus" when the vagina kind of clamps up and makes penetration difficult and/or painful... but I think now that term has kind of been assimilated into the broader term "pelvic floor dysfunction."

If it's a new symptom, it's best to see your doctor about it.
