In pain right now
I have done fantastic for several months. But Friday they had
some bannanas in the office. I ate a whole one. I am guessing that is what set me off. Its the first bannana I have had since I started the IC diet last year. I thought I would test the waters. since saturday I am having a bad irritation in what feels like my uretha. I feel like I gotta pee even when I dont.
This is my first bad reaction since having DMSO instills lST december. What happens now I wonder? if this dosent settle down on its own, and I call the Uro, will he start intills again?
Does anyone think one 'ol bannana would set off such reaction?
I have been so strict till recently, guess If the pain is this bad, I don't even want to test out any foods.

My thoughts are when it is urethra pain often bringing down your acidicness helps....which Prelief, water and baking soda help with.
I don't know what your doc will do.
We all have our moments when we cheat on the diet...and sometimes it is nice to take small cheats to find out if you are better....don't feel bad.
I hope you feel better soon.

Katrina,
I usually do use prelief if I am going out to dinner, but didn't when I tried the bannana. Does the prelief help, or the soda after the fact. Otherwards if I take it now might it help?

Makeyourday
I ate only half of a banana and by that evening I was burning bad. I took pyridum plus for a couple of days and it finally went away. I'll never eat another bite of banana but I had to try and find out. Next on my list is watermelon. I hope I can eat that with a flare. I love watermelon.

For me sometimes a flare can last several days. The suggestions made have been good ones. I can't take soda because of high blood presssure, but Tums can also help. If I'm in a flare, I take up to four Tums and it seems to help.
And I don't know what your doctor might suggest.
Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

I use one tsp of baking soda to an 8oz glass of water, but i don't do this offen.
like the others has said perlief works wonders but in a fix i will go for the baking soda and water.
if the flare does stop to ease up i would call your doctor you may have something going on like an infection.
Please keep us updated on how you are.
sending you hugs and prayers

Go slow on the watermellon. It's to much liquid for me. Can keep me up all night.

I wouldn't mind the liquid so much, it's the pain that I don't want.

speaking of watermellon what is the diff between the seeded ones and the ones without seeds i find the ones without seeds i can eat all i like but the ones with seeds I can't i can't stop peeing. I havent had any since last July on my sons birthday that was July 2. at his pool party.
I think I might try it again but was wondering what is the diff. beside the seeds?? and of course the prices LOL:rolleyes:
Hi, I have the same reaction to bananas, for me I think it is the potassium content in the banana, really sets me off. I do not go near them now. I do occasionally stray away from the diet, but I take Prelief as a precaution. You are not alone with the banana situation, hugs Iris. p.s. I used to love bananas. :yikes: :flower:
