Wed at 10:00 I will be going for my first DMSO treatment. I am happy my new doc is trying more things with me....I know I needed more agressive treatment or I would just continue to get worse. The treatment has me nervous though.....please keep me in your prayers.
If there is anything you think I should know please tell me. I have been through this with many of you but never for myself so some reminders might help:)
Blessings to you all for your help:angel:

I will be keeping you in my prayers.
some ideas that might help is make sure you eat before going if you have maybe a nerve pill since you are nerous and we all are in trying new things that might help.
have someone to go with you if you can.
please let us know how you are
sending you hugs and prayers

My only suggestion is to be sure to ask them to instill lidocaine or a similar substance first. It really helps with the DMSO.
Warm hugs,
Donna

Thanks a bunch...with me can't go anywhere without someone else....I can't drive.
Dixie, what do you mean by never pill...I don't have any medication for nervousness (calmer person than u might think)....but I do have Neurontin that works on nerves for pain
I love the advise....has me feeling much more prepared!!

Katrina,
I don't know if you did the DMSO or not already. I hope it works for you. I finally got mine approved but I am going home to CA for awhile so I am gonna try it when I get back. You are always in my prayers. I am sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I hope that you are doing better.

I am really glad that you are having new treatments, I hope only the best for you and that you will feel better and in less pain when you complete your series and have your assesment .
The only thing that I experienced with the series of 6 treatments was that I had a horrible rebound effect for two days afterword, I could barely get out of bed and was in soooo much pain, but after those two days I felt somewhat better, not enough to do as Rhonda does and take them regularly but I am telling you what, if swallowing goose poop would help I would be out in my back yard grazing like there was no tomorrow!
Best of luck to you in all you do!
I have come to love and enjoy your kind spirit.
Much love,
Jessica Day

I think everyone else has DMSO covered, but I did want to make one suggestion - take some gum. I always took gum with me & popped it in my mouth before getting the treatment. Not only does DMSO make you smell bad, but it also leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.
Best of luck to you, Katrina. I hope that the treatments work for you.

Thanks for your help.....the treatment did not go too bad.....I was expecting worse. I have been able to handle the stinging burning it left me with ice so next week ice is coming with :) I can feel a bit of bladder pain coming on but it is minor.
I am doing well thanks!
Katrina: I'm so glad you're feeling okay after treatment! I'll be having them myself this summer and it's a relief to hear someone's experience wasn't as awful as some I've read! :) And from what I've read, the real benefits show up either around the 4th treatment or several weeks after the last instillation. (Depending on which IC book!) Wishing you better days soon and if you do feel crummy tomorrow, wrap up in something soft & be gentle with yourself. But am hoping you feel good...
Okay JessicainArkansas - your goose poop comment gave me the best laugh I've had in awhile. thanks!
