Hello,
Has anyone out there been experimenting with supplements containing immunoglobulins?
I started taking COLOSTRUM pills - 2000mg/day back in December and had a really weird experience in March - a 12 day remission! I ate strawberry crepes with no consequence during this time. My first remission ever.
I read somewhere on even better health dot com that COLOSTRUM helps rebuild the lining of the bladder and reduces inflammation in the body. It apparently is also mentioned in "Along the Healing Path."
Convinced that I'm on to something, I have raised my COLOSTRUM dosage to 3000mg/day (six pills at 500mg each) and my flares are minor when they should be severe.
Example: I got overconfident and ate theater popcorn yesterday. I flared through the movie and for an hour afterwards, but it wasn't a severe flare and it was gone by bedtime. NOT NORMAL FOR ME.
Also, an IC sufferer friend on FB pointed me at a supplement called 4Life Transfer Factor Plus. She was on her 5th bottle and her urgency and frequency was gone by more than 50 percent. I looked up the ingredients in that supplement and again saw a lot of COW COLOSTRUM.
Anyway, I'd love to hear more from people experimenting with COLOSTRUM. I asked my urologist about it and she said she had one other patient who tried it for a while but didn't continue. This tells me I'm not the first. ANYONE ELSE?

Yes I bought it, but I have been on Ab's for the last few weeks from a toothache.
I only take one new pill at a time so I can tell what side effects I get from what.
I finished the ab's on Friday so I think i will start it today.
I will keep you posted on how I do.
My only concern about them is I have trouble swallowing lg gel caps, they get stuck in my throat.

Growth factors have been shown to help stimulate cell and tissue growth by stimulating DNA formation. They are found naturally and in high concentrations in Colostrum. Several studies show that these growth factors are capable of increasing T-cell production, accelerating healing.
Taramc, when I was taking Colostrum my recovery time from flares was much shorter .
Mothergoose, you can find Colostrum powder, it taste like powdered milk. For quicker absorption, the Colostrum may be placed under the tongue for 30 seconds, followed with 8-12 oz. of water.

Taramc!! that is awesome! I have been taking COLOSTROM pills for years now, since diagnosed with IC, and it has helped tremendously in my healing. I take no medication at all, never did, my doctor pushed meds on me, but I went the natural route. COLOSTROM was a supplement that definitely helped with my healing. I still take it daily!!
Take care,
Peace

On taking supplements... I get air in my throat all the time. It hurts! I take over 20 large capsules a day. If I've got a bad air bubble in my throat, it absolutely feels like the capsule is stuck there. Drinking more water helps. And don't eat anything when you have a bad air bubble - I did that once and the air bubble made me puke lol.

I found that Vitamin World and GNC both carry colostrom. From what I've read above, I think it's worth a try. Right now I am taking aloe vera geltabs and cystaprotek as far as supplements go. I am also taking Elavil, extended release Ditropan and hydroxyzine.

Got the colostrum yesterday and took 3 and then took 3 again this morning. Three pills is almost 2000mg. How long did any of you have to take it before you noticed results?

Please remember that herbal remedies are also medications. That's why it's so important that your doctor knows which natural medications you are taking.

I started Colostrom at the beginning of December and had my first 10-day remission in March. I got away with eating a strawberry crepe one day, and a glass of champagne another day. Then I got overconfident and ended the remission with banana chips. Still, I KNOW it's the colostrum that helped me and I raised my dose to 6 caps/day. I'm not flaring as bad after restaurants!

Donna, I always talk to my doc first, but thanks for the pointer. Nice to know there are others looking out for me. Taramc, that's wonderful!!! This may sound crazy, but I am feeling better today after only 2 doses. I did have a slight problem this morning when I burped and the taste of the colostrum came up. I almost lost it. I swear that is the nastiest taste ever. Hopefully it won't happen tomorrow.

Where would I find this suppliment? In normal healthfood stores? Is it easily acessible?

I was able to get it at Vitamin World for around $15. I believe GNC also carries it. Be sure to take it with a glass of milk; that keeps me from burping them and having that nasty taste.

I thought about this but only took a few pills of lactoferrin which I think is similar, but not sure. I see you need to take a lot. Is it still working and what else do you take. Thanks! PV

I have been taking the Colostrum for a little over a week and it seems to be helping. I am still having some discomfort, but not as bad and not as long. I have been taking three a day. So, hopefully this will do the trick to rid me of this flare.

I get the Vitamin World brand that they carry. I'm having a little trouble with some burning tonight, but since I've starting taking it a week ago, it seems to be easing up. I know it usually takes a few weeks to really get the effect of any pill, so hopefully after another week it will make things much better. I've been flaring for almost two weeks. The first flare since I had my hydro in mid-April. I'm just so tired of going to doctors all the time and all the bills. If I can find a natural way to treat this along with the meds, I'm happy with that.

I ended up getting some today, I have taken two so far.. not sure if its helping yet, but I know I am still flaring from the antibiotics... I hope this flare ends soon its really getting me down :( I was taking Quercitan as well, but I think I will hold off on that and try the colostrum for a little while. I wanna know what is helping or not.

I remember reading that pycnogenol (french maritime pine bark) might be good for IC, so I am going to get some soon along with colostrum. The foreign "elmiron" I have been taking has not helped me. Quite shocking to me that elmiron did not work after 8 months of taking it so I'm back to looking at alternative.

Sometimes elmiron can take SOO long! I have heard people say it didnt work for them for a year or more but when it did it was soo worth it. Maby keep taking the elmiron a little longer? I know it must be so frustrating, im not sure if its working for me and im only 3 month in! Im also getting seriously impatient :( Just wanted to chime in and say maby dont give it up just yet

It will be two weeks Friday that I started taking the colostrum. Not sure if it's starting to work or if it's the cortizone shot in the foot for an injury, but I am feeling a little bit better. My family doc isn't in this week and the other doctors there said to go back to my uro for help. Screw that!!! She's done nothing but load me up on drugs and had me spend thousands of dollars on a cysto/hydro that only helped for about a month. If I continue to feel like crap, I'm going to try a holistic approach.

I don't think the brand really matters, but the Source Naturals brand is pretty cheap on Amazon. The important thing is to keep taking it - LOTS of it. 3000mg/day! And yes, definitely let your doctors know what you're up to.

Colostrum flared me... Should I keep taking it? Will it eventually not flare me? I heard it was a cleanser too so that could be why at first but then it dies down and helps?

Wow..my first thought here is that something else must have flared you. I flare from everything - I'm super diet sensitive and a little adrenaline will get me every time. I even flare from Fish Oil capsules. But colostrum is just milk, right? I've never flared from it. But we're all different...anything could happen.

Colostrum is a form of milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals in late pregnancy. Most species will generate colostrum just prior to giving birth.

I am also trying colostrum but not sure if it is it what is causing my u/f badly right now. I am lacto intolerant and I got kosher colostrum plus from Symbiotics which should be ok for those who want to have it lacto free. So far I worked up to 4 in a day (around 2000 mg) It is said that we should slowly work up the dose. I pray to God that this is not yet another thing that doesnīt work for me while hearing good reports from others.
Jenn - how much do you take? Are you perhaps lacto intolerant? If so, it might be possible to flare if you take "normal" colostrum. If you are not then perhaps you started with too high dose?
I donīt know, I am in similar boat trying to figure it out what the heck can I take if anything at all.

My bad news is I had some vaginal bleeding which I need to have checked out due to the fact that I am way post menopausal. I'm going for an ultrasound, BUT since I stopped (generic) elmiron weeks ago because my IC was bad(which at some point I may start again) my IC has calmed down. Now, has it calmed down due to a new supplement I am taking - Adrenal Health (Gaia herbs) or due to manuka honey ( which at first I thought flared me), or is it the weather. I'm certainly stressed out about a number of issues. but the IC is a bit better lately.
Down the pipleline my list of supplements to add in resveratrol, pycnogenol, colustrum if I can afford all that. And something I read about on an osteoporosis blog called CALM (magnesium) helps people sleep, but I do take magnesium sometimes... If you have time you could soak in an epsom salt bath and that may have the same effect.

It could have been that I took too much to start with.... I will try again, maby it wa someting else that flared me and it wa a coincidence. No I ahve no probs with milk either, sometimes I get a stomach ache if I eat TOO much but I think thats normal for everyone. I eat tons of ice cream all the time and never have a problem.....
