Elmiron and constipation?

Has anyone else found that Elmiron constipates them? I'm not sure if the medicine is what it is from but I go from being constipated to having diarrhea and now I have hemorhoids so bad I can't even sit down. I can feel some relief form the Elmiron, so I hate to stop taking it, but I am missing a lot of work because of this. Am I the only one having this reaction?:toosh:

I urge you to talk to your doctor about your constipation. It can become a serious problem. It's so easy to become constipated --- I always have a fleets enema on hand "just in case."

Donna, thanks so much for the reply. I have an appointment for another instillation on Monday and will tell my doctor about my constipation problem. I have never used a Fleet Enema and was curious about whether they work really fast or if they are like correctal and you have to wait and worry when it will hit. This is something I have never had to deal with in the past. I have always had IBS and was the exact opposite so a laxative was the last thing I would ever had used before this.

I'm pretty sure Elmiron tends to constipate me. I usually run the other way. I wasn't sure what med was causing it, if it is a med. I was also trying antihystamines. I dropped them and it improved, but I really have to make sure I drink lots of water, and I still get too bulked up at times. Good luck, Grace
