This just sucks!

It's a week and a half after my 6th DMSO, and now, I'm flaring! What the heck? I'm great during treatment, I can't stay on DMSO, every week forever!

Have you tried heparin instills? The great thing about those is that you can do them at home. They didn't work for me as well as DMSO, but some find they work very well.

DMSO is not for everyone. I initially had a 6 treatment course last winter while I was waiting for the Elmoron to start working. I did OK. Had a bad flair in the fall. We did 4 treatments and then switched to Lidocaine Gel instilations. We are not convinced they worked either. Right now we are thinking the instilations are causing more pain than good. Good possibility the last one in April set off another flair. Everyone is different and responds to treatments differently.

Blue i'm living proof that heparin works well it did for me.
i'm sorry you are flareing so badly you may have a uti.:( when flareing and i don't have a uti i can take heparin and marcaine the marcaine is a nerve block and it numbs my bladder and normally will knock that flare out of here! not even a year ago i had over 90 pin point bleeding spots on my bladder and now i have NONE.:thumbsup: I wish that ment my IC was gone but it doesn't but it does mean i have made alot of improvement.
after checking ot make sure you dont have a uti talk to your doctor about trying heparin and marcaine. some doctor mix other things with heparin the other ladies here can tell you more about that.
if it hadn't been for Jerri a very kind understand RN at my doctor office telling me about a new study came out that said heparin and the marcaine was safe to use up to three times a day if needed I truely believe i would still have those painful pin point bleeding all over my bladder.
if you need to talk or would like to see the study i have the papers here let me know and i will find them an email them to you if you want to see a picture of my bladder now i will also send you that just pm me with your email addy.
before those when i got a flare (normally from a uti) i would take a tsp of baking soda and 8oz of spring water mix it together and drink it that would help.
but that is something i wouldnt do everyday maybe once a week.
