Just got word last week that I have IC. Have been "pee-ing " all the time for the past several years. A couple of trips to kaiser (biopsy and everything) and they couldn't diagnose it. My last urologist (non-Kaiser) figured it out.
Starting on the meds (elmiron).
It's good to know what it is, it sucks hearing that it's forever.
Hopefully the meds will help.
I understand we're the definite minority with this disorder.......
Cool website though

Now that you know you have IC, I'm sure you'll want to learn as much as you can about your disease. Some good places for information are the Patient Handbook on this site http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ You'll find the IC diet there and I suggest you put yourself on it, at least long enough to find out if it helps.

Elmiron is very effective for some ICers, but it can take up to six months or more to be effective so you might want to think about other treatment in the meantime.

My IC was diagnosed 29 years ago --- and I absolutely assure you that there is life with IC. It may take a while to find exactly which treatment options work best for YOU, and which foods and drinks are a problem, but most of us do get there.

Sending warm welcoming hugs,
Donna

:hi: Neal,

I just wanted to extend a warm :welcome: to you and although I'm sorry you have been diagnosed with IC, I'm glad you found this site which will offer you much help and info.

Best wishes to you as you try to discover mostly by trial and error (at least that's how I have found it) what helps you in your treatment with this disease. I continue to pray  that a cure will be found soon.

Hugs & blessings to you--:cat:
