i had a couple of questions. i was planning on getting pregnant in the near future and was wondering if i get pregnant would that affect my ic and would my ic affect the pregnancy? also i am currently 16 days late but i took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. could i be late due to ic? please help thanks

No IC does not affect pregnancy, There are women that have went into remission during pregnany. I can't say if you would go into remission if you happen to get pregnant. Sometimes IC get worse during pregnany sometimes it doesn't. Well Everybody is different.

Hi Kim! It's great to hear that you are wanting to concieve. I would plan on getting my IC under control first. (As much as can be expected.:) ) Talk to your ob and uro about what would happen if you had pain from your IC while pregnant and what form of treatment would help. I know some pregnant IC'ers could take pain meds at certain times but my uro said he would only do heparin instills if I needed some IC relief.
I made it through my pregnancy fine with IC. At first it was hard to tell whether it was a flare or the baby kicking the bladder or a uti!!;)
I wish you good luck and keep us up to date on how you are...BTW...my IC didn't get better or worse after pregnancy.:hi:

some ladies goes into complete remission while preg and for a while after.
just an exp i would like to share with you when i was preg with my second child i took a home preg test it came back neg. I was not dx with IC at this point but i was on medicine i went on takeing my meds went back to the doctor two days later i was already two weeks late when i took the test and when they gave me a test just a few hours later it came up poss.

also stress can cause you to miss your mthly also.
some meds can also do this. in either case if your late you need to see your doctor for them to find out what is causeing this.
