View Full Version : My granddaughter being checked
My daughter just told me today that she is taking my oldest granddaughter to the Dr. on Thur. because she is peeing a lot. This has been going on for awhile. I asked her if she is experiencing burning. She said no, just going a lot and when she has to go she has to go now, urgency.
A few weeks ago and I can't remember what she was doing but the granddaughter wet her pants because she didn't get to the bathroom in time. She is 12 and this is about the same time these same type of symptoms started with me.
Please say some prayers that she is not going down the same path.
I know the fear you feel right now for your grandaughter:-( My 6 year old daughter has IC. It truly could be something else besides IC though. Worse case scenario if it is, at least she would be diagnosed much earlier and have a better chance at halting the progression:-) Sending you many prayers....

Thats too bad. Could still be a bladder infection or a low grade one. Sounds like OAB more then IC with what you've described. Either way, no fun and I'm sorry.
Does she take many baths? My daughter was getting alot of frequency and had a UTI or two before the doctor told us absolutely no more baths and switch only to showers. My daughter was disappointed but no more problems.
Another thought is it could also be a diet based irritant like if she is drinking alot of pop/soda, flavored water etc. which alot of the kids do. I don't think my daughter hardly drinks plain water, its all the flavored stuff, propel etc. I certainly can't drink them!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's something simple that can be fixed quickly.
I wanted to update you with how the Drs. visit went.
Urine checked- no infection, but high protein and specific gravity. She needs to drink more water, and she said that many kids after they get up and active for the day will spill protein.
They are having her do a first thing in morning urine drop to check her again.
They are doing a kindey ultrasound and a KUB x-ray to check kidneys and bladder. They are saying she might have a small bladder that is why she has urgency.
So for now they are discounting IC at this point. We will see where this goes from here. I am glad they are doing more tests.

I do think it was good she was taken to the doctor. Also, it seems that you must be satisfied with that particular doctor. Regardless, you will see what happens with the tests. Oh, yeah! You did make it seem like IC must have been brought up. (like I don't really know) I know how much IC can suck, but I'd probably lose my cool if I was her age with it.

Hi, Jolene ~ I'm so thankful they're holding off with an IC diagnosis but will keep her in prayers that things may resolve themselves soon. I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier.
I understand your concerns because I have a granddaughter almost 18 and am worried because she has been having difficulties in this area also.

I am glad that she was d/xed with this horrible disease yet. I hope that this is just a temporary thing that will pass. I know that we all have fears that others in our family will turn up with this too. But, hopefully, she wont, and this will pass. I will say a prayer for her right now that it passes.
