Hi, I am going for my 5th cysto on the 25th. I spoke with the nurse and she told me the dr is going to give me supositories (can't spell) that coat your bladder for after the procedure because I will be in alot of pain. She said he will put one in while I am still asleep. I am baffled. I have heard of supositories with pain meds in them, but how can something coat your bladder when it is in your:toosh: ?????????? Has anyone ever heard of this???? I am terrified already because cystos make my symptoms worse and then I also found out hey are going to put a cocktail in there too (the last one landed me in the ER) Thanks for any input.
Love,
Danielle

I have had urethral suppositories before --- I'm wondering if that is the plan.

My suggestion is to call the nurse and ask so you will know specifically what is going to be used.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Thanks For the replies, I found out it is the B and O. What does it do to you? Does it make you sleepy and dopey?

B & O suppositories help considerably with bladder spasms and the pain that goes with them. They are a rectal suppository and they definitely are very effective --- I used to call them "magic bullets" because they work so quickly and well.

The only time I've had them was in a hospital setting when I was in bed so I could just sleep if I felt like it. I always got sleepy after a B & O, but not sure if it was from the drugs or because the pain was gone.

Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

I had a B&O suppository after my cysto/hydro too (I actually didn't know this until today, when I finally got a copy of my medical record). I also had a shot of Dilaudid (hydromorphone) in the recovery room.

Because of that, I have no idea how sleepy they make you, since I'd just had general anesthesia, and also Dilaudid. I DO, however, know that must work... my uro gave me a DMSO treatment while I was still under after he finished the cysto/hydro, and that was the ONLY time I was able to hold the DMSO for longer than 20 minutes. Without anything, I spasm like mad and get real bad urgency, but that time with the B&O, I held it for an hour and only had a vague sensation that I MIGHT have to pee.
