Anyone familiar this? Its supposed to be very helpful.

I found it on this website re: painful bladder syndrome:

(See magnesium carbonate reference on the "acid-alkali" link.

There are lots of posts here about magnesium (many from me ha ha). I prefer citrates as any citrate will alkalize your urine be it calcium citrate, magnesium citrate and potassium citrate. I take it with every meal. Mostly I started taking it a few years ago because it gets rid of constipation. Be careful how much you start out with because it can give you diarhea. I personally think it is a better way of alkalizing your urine then baking soda because it has such a huge sodium hit thats not good for you. If you google citrates along with alkalizing your urine or something like that you will find quite a bit of info on it. Also, less burning upon urination when you take it, probably becuz the urine is less acidic. Prelief does the same thing, any calcium will do the same thing that is alkalize your urine.

I don't agree with the website where it said irritable bladder is an allergic bladder. It might be for some but not for me and unfortunately they don't know what causes it. I have asked my uro and he said they really don't know. Allergies can play a part in making it worse though. Not for me cuz I don't have any. Oh well.

Remember to take it with a full glass of water and start out with a low dose as it pulls water into the bowels much like a stool softener. That is why it can cause diarhea if you take too much....though I have never personally had that problem but I have IBS-C these days (used to be alternating but that has gone away).
