I wasn't sure where to post this as my question is about lyrica and/or neurontin. Do these meds help with urgency and pelvic pressure? I have been getting heparin insills for a few years now and all of all sudden started having bad side effects from them and getting little relief even though they worked for awhile. The nurse practioner said we needed to stop the instills for now until we know what is going on. So know I have to go see my doctor and figure out a new plan. I am currently taking Elmiron, Ditropan and pyridium along with an antidepressent. I don't want DMSO or the interstim so I thought I should discuss some other meds with him as I don't know what else to do. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I don't have any experience with the meds you mention (lyrica and/or neurontin) but thought I'd give your post a bump back towards the top. Hopefully someone will be along to post who has tried or takes them.

It's too bad you began to have side effects from the instills if they were helping. Hopefully you'll be able to either get the side effects dealt with, or move on to try something else.

The instills don't help me a bit, either. They make me feel worse.

I am on Elavil, which helps reduce my frequency. I tried Neurontin, but for me the side effects were really bad so I switched to Elavil. Everyone is different, of course. Some prefer Neurontin, some Elavil or some Nortriptyline (similar to Amitriptyline, which is Elavil). Also Lyrica is another one some people take, as you mentioned. I have heard the side effects of Lyrica are much better than Neurontin, but it's more expensive usually.
