Hi, I was just reading that quecetin is a supplement that helps to inhibit hystamine. I was wondering if this has helped anyone? I can't seem to take anti-hystamines without side effects I don't want. I see there is a product called bladder-Q out with this in it, but it's expensive. Are there any other produts like this that are less expensive?? Thanks for your help, Grace

You might do a search for just quercetin and see if you can find some without additives. Some people do feel it helps with their pain.

Grace 2, I have just taken my first 400 mg. Quercetin capsule today. I had some trouble finding it without vit. C (abscorbic acid) added. 100 capsules was priced at $18.49. If they do not upset my bladder I will try increasing the dosage. I had ordered a generic Elavil and when it came with the write-up I decided it sounded like something I shouldn't be putting in my body. I found an herb called Gotu Kola in 250 mg. tabs and I take two of those a day. I had also started glucosamine and chrondroitin with MSM about 3 months ago. I have been searching for information on IC and especially any new insights into this disease. Good luck to you.

Raelyn, Thanks for the info. I've been thinking on trying the gotu kola. Have you noticed any difference with any of the supplements you are on? I have been feeling a little better in my bladder lately, although the vulvodynia I have is about the same. I've been doing instillations and elmiron orally. We also upped my estrogen a little. I want to keep working on the healing aspect. Please let me know how you do on the quercetin. Thanks, Grace

Grace2, I was pleased with the Gotu Kola, I got it in 250 mg. tablets and I take 2 daily. It seems to make me a little more relaxed. 100, 250 mg. tabs were $5.10 and I bought them on a 3 for 1 sale which I felt good about. I also ordered it in the 1 oz. extract at $10.90 on the 3 for 1 sale. I have not tried that yet. The directions for the liquid are 1 ml. (500 mg.) once a day. I have been using a Ph tape to check the acid in my urine and trying to eat a high alkaline diet. I find that spirulina and alfalfa are very alkaline. I drink lots of alfalfa tea and try to take several spirulina tablets before meals. Currently I am on the acid/alkaline kick. I guess we are all searching for something to give us relief and healing.

You didn't do anything wrong. it's ok as long as you don't post any herbal product sites. advertisment isn't allowed here.

I have been taking quercitin for about three months or so...I am not sure if it helps or not since I am on so many actual meds...but I know that other people have had success with it and so I figured I might as well try it. My doctor was all for it.

Does anyone know about alfalfa sprouts, tea, etc. and what it can do for you? I've been hearing stuff about this lately

I just was told that most teas (even herbal ones) were a pretty much a no-no...I just stay away from every form of liquid besides water...just to be safe...even decaffeinated tea has been processed and may have a little bit of caffeine...I am not sure about the sprouts...

I have been reading about sprouts this week and just made my first batch. Apparently by sprouting you turn a food that produces acid ash into an alkaline food and multiply the nutrients. I am looking forward to working with sprouts in the days ahead. Sounds like a winner for IC patients.

I strongly believe that some herbs may help. I tried Cysta - Q for awhile and went down on my elavil and I feel great but it is hard to see what helps since I will not completely go off the elavil. I believe Quercetin is one of the ingredients in Cysta.-Q.
