Hi everyone, my Mother Donna has a few different things going on that may contribute to her IC, one of them may be off the ricktor scale heavy metal poisoning. She was diagnosed by an alternative DR in Reno NV as having more than twice the amount of Cadmium poisoning any person should have, as a result she did many cealation treatments that all proved to be a waste of time. Cadmium poisoning can cause damage to many organs including the renal gland and the kidneys, it can also cause nerve damage. My Mother did not show signs of IC until she underwent a bladder lift and ended up with a total of ten consecutive UTIs, 7 that were confirmed by a unrinalisis. She was told that she held her urine/did not empty completely prior to surgery. This may have been a sign of pre-existing IC. Does anyone here have the same thing going on with a diagnosis of heavy metal poisoning prior to getting IC? I know there is no confirmed reason why IC comes about, but without research, were always trying to put pieces together as to why. Any input would be great. Thank you, Carolyn

Has she had the cadmium diagnosis confirmed by a second opinion? If not, I think it could be a good idea. I've never heard of this as a cause of IC and I've had many different kinds of blood testing.

Thanks Donna, Yes, she has had a couple more test done when she moved to the Bay Area just to see where the levels of metals were and if they had dropped once the celation process was complete. The charts still showed that she had very high levels of cadmium poisoning, the hardest metal to get rid of. I remember that after her celation treatments, which were many, her kidneys would hurt and she would go in to see if she had a kidney infection and each time it would come back negative, once she even bled and thats when she quit going in I believe. Something was moving through her system, but because the levels of cadmium still regestered off the charts were not sure what was coming out. The metal cadmium are the little studs you would use to stud a snow tire, it's what my husband used when we owned our tire shop. I will pass the information onto my Mom, I'm sure it will give her some relief to hear that you have not heard of metals posibly being a cause. Thank you, Carolyn
