Alright Y'all .. Let's get some happy on this board !! :smile tee
I think an important part of coping with any sort of "less than ideal" situation is to remember the good in our lives. Let's use this thread to take a minute and list those good things -- no matter how big or small! Then whenever you're having a bad day you can come back here and read your list (as well as everyone else's) and hopefully it'll make your bad day not so bad. :)
I am grateful for:
Waking up beside the man I love;
Being able to take a hot shower;
Facebook -- my place to vent;
My husband's kisses;
My dogs stinky breath kisses;
My parents;
My Papa;
My little sister;
My nephew's hugs;
Coffee Mate Creamy Chocolate creamer;
The wonderful people on this board;
My freedom!;
The opportunity to further my education;
Christmas music!!
Now, it's your turn! What are you grateful for?

My list of things for which I am grateful is very long --- here are a few examples:
My husband
All of my grown children and grandchildren
My friends, around me and on the IC Network
The fact that I have a freezer filled with food
I don't have anything I MUST do today!
I have to list our spotted dog, Meggie
I have a warm, cozy house to live in
and ..... our Oregon Ducks football team is Number 1 !!!!!!!!

My list is similar to Donna's,
1. My warm, cozy, heated house
2. My patient, funny husband
3. Our children and grand children
4. Enough food and then some
5. Our sweet gentle dog, Zachary
6. Old friends who listen
7 This forum and all the wonderful people on it
8. Living in this country
9. Still being able to take afore mentioned dog for long walks
10. Being able to do nothing if I want to
I could go on, but those are the biggies.
Thanks for starting this, it's a great idea!
Laurie
Funny you mention this. When I first got IC and I was so very sick, I made myself write 5 things I was grateful for every day and I couldn't repeat the previous day's gratitudes. It honestly was one of the things that kept me from complete despair, and it made me conscious of how other people helped me, so that someday I could maybe help others....
I am grateful for:
1. My job with students and colleagues I love
2. Medical insurance & instillation treatments at home
3. My doctor and his nurses who always try to help
4. My apartment with no neighbors on 4 sides (like living in a house without having a house payment!)
5. Two weeks off for Winter Break coming soon.
6. The public library - Ben Franklin was a genius! (It was his idea, wasn't it?)
7. My calico cat who quacks like a duck when happy and curls up next to me when I'm sick
8. My favorite retreat center that lets me bring my own food, has private rooms with bathrooms, and a gentle Franciscan spirituality that always sends me home better than when I came
9. The understanding my friends have consistently shown me with my IC.
10. ICN friends - often you guys get it when no one else really can!

Thanks. I don't think I'll make it from Va. but it does sound tempting.
A friend of mine was telling me about a really good retreat center, I believe, not too far from Philadelphia:) Might still be too far, but way better than a cross country flight!

Yes, still too far, but thanks for the thought. Right now, around the corner seems far! Maybe down the road...

I'm grateful (again) today for my sweet, supportive and loving husband. He's the only one in this world who has been able to make me laugh thru my tears. But only after he let's me cry. For this, and so many other things, I will be forever grateful for him.

Can it just be my "Brag on my Husband Day"? I just have to add that since I've been SO messed up with this loooong IC flare the thing I look forward to the most is when he comes home. We don't do ANYTHING except lay on the bed, me on my memory foam pad with my heating pad and sometimes a bottle of ice between my legs (wrapped in one of his old black socks, which is always good for a laugh) and him by my side, watching tv together. It's the best part of my day. Not only am I grateful, I'm blessed.

I am so grateful for :
1. My wonderful, caring, husband who always puts me first and has taken such good care of me through all of this. He loves me no matter what and for that I will always be grateful. He is still by my side everyday and only wants for me to get better.
2. Thankful for all of my furry children who seem to know when their mommy isn't feeling well.
3. Thankful for my job and the people I work with for being understanding.
4. Very grateful for all my friends who try so hard to understand.
5. Grateful for all of you my IC friends for always having a listening ear.
6. I am grateful for my doctor and nurses for being so understanding and helpful.

Today I am especially grateful for my husband. My patient, loving, amazing husband who loves me even at my worst. I'm telling y'all he's a saint. :angel:
I am also grateful to finally be feeling a bit of the Christmas spirit. I hate being such a Grinch.
I am grateful for my dad's delicious cooking!!
And for my mother's kind heart.
I'm grateful for a sister who always leans on her family when things are rough for her.
I am grateful for a nephew whose kisses make everything better! Whose pure innocence reminds me that life is great!
I am grateful for a grandfather so full of life and stories and love to give.
I am grateful God gave me a second chance to have the kind of relationship with my family that I've always wanted.
I am grateful that God gave me another morning! Another morning in which I got to wake up to my husband's horrible morning breath and my dog whining to go outside .... such small things we take for granted!

On top of the things I'm grateful for everyday (hubby, children, friends old and new), I am especially grateful for:
1. My heating pad - the person who invented this magical thing should get a
Nobel Peace Price.
2. My frozen water bottle (and KarenAnne who gave me such a terrific useful
suggestion.)

Totaly off-topic:
Do you love your Kindle? My DH has a Nook which he loves. I am trying to decide which to get. They both seem to have their pluses and minuses.

I love it so far, but I only got it as a gift on Christmas Eve, so I am not 100% sure yet on all the details of how to compare it to the nook or another brand.
