I am having to take pain pills everyday. I'm almost 29 and this has been going on for a while. It worries me that I could be hurting myself taking them all the time but the pain really gets bad and I can't sleep, walk or do anything it seems.. I have two school aged kids so I have a lot to do and the pain really gets to me. I have Darvocet and vicodin... How often do you guys take pain pills and is it okay to take them daily? Do you have any other suggestions for getting through this?

As long as you are taking the medications under the guidance of your physician, in my opinion you are doing what you must do in order to function. And remember that it takes far less medication to control pain if you don't let it get bad before taking the meds.

Please talk to your doctor about this and take his advice.
I personally take pain medicine daily sometimes up to three a day and i have taking more then that if needed.
normally its one in the morning after i pee one in the after noon but that is mostly when i had over done my self by trying to clean up and take care of the children and one at night before bed time due to the fact my bladder knows when i'm trying to lay down to go to sleep
LOL funny thing i didn' t know my bladder had its own brain but i do believe it now LOL

I very much agree with Donna. I am just learning that if I catch the pain early I can take less pain med and feel better and I do take it almost everyday. However, I am taking less than I was a month ago.:)
The more I learn the better I feel. For me controlling the symptoms was and still is the biggest challenge.

I have to take pain pills daily, also. I take demerol, and vicodin or percocet for the breakthrough pain. It really sucks!!!I didn't think there was anyone else that felt the way I do. I go from the bed to the couch! I am in so much pain. Sometimes I can barely stand up. I also have an interstim, but it isn't helping for the pain. What else is there? I'm 30 years old, and I can't even work, because of the pain! What are we to do? If anyone can help, please email me. I also take neurontin, detrol, lexapro, usept, vistaril(I've been out for about a month-can't afford it). I sent out for prescriptions for low oncome people, now I'm just waiting to see if it comes to my Doc. I also applied for social security disability(I take demerol-it's hard to even sit up), and was denied! I can't believe it! I've been dealing with this since January 16,2002! And it just keeps getting worse! I've been to every Doc, nobody can help me! I'm in so much pain daily, it sucks to go to sleep in pain & then wake up in pain! Anybody with any suggestions please email me: bloore74@aol.com Thanks!:

Thought I'd let you know what I think I have FINNALY found that works.I've been on Vicodin,Ultram, and percecet for over a year.Nothing would touch the pain, no matter what amount I would take.I have a 8 year old, and work 3rd shift.Very hard to function in so much pain 24/7. Last week my doctor put me on Methadone.I cant believe it.It's working!!! I look better, feel better, the pain is at bay,I mean it's there, but nothing like before. And the amazing part, no side effects! You should ask your doctor about this. I'm thrilled that finally something might help me,so I can at least function. I'll be going to my 4th DMSO,next week and I'm sure that's not helping. It just makes me stinky!! Good luck, hope this helps...

Nearly everyone is turned down on their first application for Social Security disability --- I would encourage you to appeal.

Bloore,
I've been going through the same thing it sounds like for about the same amount of time. The cysot w/ hydro made it worse and I was like that for 5 weeks, total agony. It's IC. Everytime I see my uro and tell him about pains that keep getting worse low right where my ovaries would be he says you've been telling me about that since the beginning. So next week, I'm going back to dmso and first he's going to look into my bladder with a camera to see if there's endo or anything going on to cause this intense, horrible pain besides IC.
I've been seeing a pain dr. for 4 mos. and the narcotics help. Also having 3 nerve blocks. I do stop at surgery and will not go there. IC sucks, I guess we know were not alone and we can vent here. Knowing you have a great dr. and that everything that can be done is done. Sometimes the meds help if taken correctly, but it's really trial and error for all of us.
Have you read up on ic and discussed concerns, etc. with your dr.? Pls. write me back. Hope you feel better, SOON.
Love,
Julie
