Hello all. I visited my new urologist today & am scheduled for surgery on May 24th. He is going to do a cysto, hydro, biopsy, lazer my trigone area, & do a bladder washing. I was wondering if anyone else has had the lazer surgery or the bladder washing. Bladder washing was described to me as a bleaching which kills the bladder lining so it will grow back new. Does anyone have any information on these treatments?

Thanks & love to all,
Karma

I haven't heard of the lazer thing, or bladder washing.

I haven't heard of either treatment, karma.

I remember you mentioning that your prior uro wasn't real big on providing pain management. Is your new uro able to provide you this?

Hugs, Carla

What kind of solution will be used for the "washing?" You will be able to do some research if you know what it is he'll be using.

Carla, you've made me smile by remembering my pain issue. Thanks. Yes, this uro is wonderful. He gave me a couple more scripts yesterday (neurontin & celebrex) & is also getting me set up with the pain clinic.

Donna, I don't remember exactly what they were 'washing' me with. I was a crying mess while I was there & can't recall everything that was said to me.

I do know that this lazer thing is new, but not sure about the washing. I am seeing the head uro at a medical university, so I know that they can try things on me that other 'regular' uro's can't. I told the doc that I was willing to try anything. I have no problem donating my body to science, it's not good for anything else.

bladder washing?? Sounds like Chlorpactin (don't know if I am spelling that right).. that sounds like what my son's urologist told my son. He has had Chlorpactin twice. ....that particular treatment did not help my son. Research the "bladder washing" or talk directly with Jill Osborne from the ICN network.

I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes. I was hoping to chat with someone who has had this lazer deal done, but I guess I'm one of the 1st since I haven't gotten any replies on it. This surgery makes sense to me & I believe it's going to help. I have been wondering for a long time 'why can't they just cut those nerves so I can't feel anymore'. I am still wondering, though, if this means that I won't be able to tell when I have to go or not since my nerves will be fried.

The bladder washing is Chlorpactin. I read that it was rarely used anymore but I don't know why. I do know that they still use it for people who don't respond to all the other treatments (me). I've heard stories about how it didn't help this person or that person, but I'm in a spot where I will try anything. If it doesn't help me, at least I tried. And if it does, wonderful.

Thank you all,
Karma

There's an article in Readers Digest this month about dangerous doctors that mentions surgery on nerves for interstitial cystitis.
