I am not a doctor or medical professional but I do experience some relief from anti anxiety medication as well as anti depressants. I take small doses of both.

Me too! I find that they help me. If I forget them, by noon I know it. Kathi:D

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good day. I am feeling wonderful mentally clear, alert and like myself again, though still in constant pain. I take several meds that can have an anti-anxiety property to them, Hydroxyzine the allergy med is mildly sedating/relaxing, I take valium (that also has anti anxiety properties) and I switched from Elavil (it did not agree with me made me foggy all day even in very small doses) to Paxil. I am actually feeling very peacful even when the pain is really bad, i get my heating pad out try some deep breathing, and usually pray or recite bible passages until the worst of it is over. I think anti axiety drugs can be great for us, I was at first panicing every time a flare would start, now the meds and the coping strategies together have helped soooo much.

May God Bless and Keep us all!

I started Lexapro last summer for depression and anxiety. In addition to helping with that, the Lexapro seemed to be the missing piece for my IC. I felt completely normal after a few weeks on it. Whether it is the action of the drug or if it is the lessened anxiety - I don't know. (I still flare from time to time, but when I'm not flared I feel "normal".)

I am on Paxil too. It does help when you have bad pain days and then the anxiety gets going......

I used to go "nuts" but now I can handle the bad days. (mentally anyway)

By the way my dose is only 5 mgs. Go figure!
