Anyone on imipramine?

My new Doc decided to take me off imipramine cause i told him i don't think it was helping my ic. Ive been on it for many years. I was once told its also an antidepressant. I finally went off it cold turkey 2 days ago. I'm feeling nauseous and down or depressed. Could this be from going off of it?
I was taking 50mg 3 times a day.

Tura, did your doctor tell you to stop cold turkey? I'm not a medical practitioner, but I would have expected that your instructions would have been to wean yourself off the medication more gradually -- cutting down the dosage gradually over about a month (or whatever your doctor advised). My advice would be to ask your doctor about this as soon as you can, because it sounds like you are undergoing unnecessary withdrawal symptoms.

Hi Nicola,
All he told me was to stop it. He didn't say how. I weaned myself off of it for a week gradually taking less. Ive been of of it over 2 weeks now. Not going baCK ON IT EVEN IF TO JUST TAKE 1. Tura

Meds like imipramine should be tapered slowly over several weeks. However, some can experience a discontinuation syndrome. That usually lasts for a couple of weeks and then resolves. If you continue with problems I'd let your doc know.
