Hi guys,
I went to my Uro yesterday. She put me on Prosed for the burn that never seems to go away. She also told me that I have to start doing my own rescue instills. Then she told me that my cystocele and prolapsed uterus were not helping my IC! I have a stage 4 prolapse and she said that all these organs are rubbing against my severely inflamed bladder and I need to get this repaired! I'm really upset because I just had a heart procedure done last month! My husband is looking at me like,"you poor thing"! I can't believe that I need to have another surgery!

Has anybody noticed that their repair helped their IC?

Thanks Donna,
I hope it helps mine. Was your recovery difficult?

On a related topic;
I have two doctors with opposite opinions re repairing a cystocele vs. using a pesserie,(sp?).
My gyn says he believes the repairs cause more problems because they irritate the bladder and tighten the neck of the urethra.
My Uro says that is absolutely not true and thinks the repair would help my IC a lot.
I'm going to go and see another gyn for a tie breaker opinion, though from what I've read here, it seems that no one has had more problems after a repair, just relief.
Any opinions?

My recovery was not difficult. I had strict rules about lifting for several months and I did a lot of resting for a couple of weeks. It's important to follow post op instructions closely. I didn't even need much in the way of pain medications.

I could have posted the same words as Donna. I had a hysterectomy And cystocele repair at the same time. It takes some time to recover and I did take pain meds for the first week. I had to eat soft food that were easy on my colon plus I took miralax every evening. Really it was very helpful for my IC. I had been having much trouble moving my bowels and never knew why. Now I am fine and my bladder is in a comfortable place. As Donna said follow instructions fully. I am sorry you need surgery so soon after just having one but I really believe you will be happy your bladder is not being hurt by this any longer. Wishing you the best. Let us know how it goes. Hugs, Ziggy
