As I'm sure you can all imagine, having these problems has lead me to be incredibly anxious at all times.

When it's bad, it's all I can think about. When I feel ok, all I can think about is wondering when I'll feel bad again.

My doctor recently prescribed me the generic form of klonopin to take twice a day or as needed. He says I can even cut them in half.

I read on the list of side effects though that it can cause "trouble urinating." As if any of us needs any more trouble urinating! :P

Anyway, have any of you taken this before and what was the experience like? Were there any side effects or trouble voiding? The last thing I need is to be anxious about my anti-anxiety meds.

I've used klonopin before and valium, neither medication caused trouble voiding, however we are all different, all you can do is try it and see how it goes.

You might want to take half to begin with, since it's something your doctor suggested.

hi meg
your biggest concern about this medicine should be that it is highly addictive when taken regularly. please talk to your dr about this and be sure that he assures you that he will taper you off it safely if your body does become depedent on it. the meds in this family are meant to be taken for 2-4 weeks max. if he tells you it is not addictive, well then that is complete hogwash.

I agree about the addiction, I cried for months after I was taken off of valium. Cried, begged, pleaded to get it back, my dr didn't like valium so he just said no, didn't matter I had taken it for 5 yrs straight. Such medications taken long term though can also cause depression. There are better choices for treating anxiety that you won't become addicted to. I think Lexapro has been my favorite with that. Klonopin is probably going to make you sleepy too so don't take it and drive.
