I am curious if anyone can comment on the use of marcain vs. lidocain for instills? My uro said that the marcain was longer acting but took longer to act. So, I gave it a trial run tonight. Also wondering is one more astringent than the other? When urinating out the lidocain after an instill it can burn a little, feels like it could be more astringent. Marcain seemed to not be so irritating.
Any experience you could share is appreciated.
Thanks!

For me the lidocaine caused problems because in order for it to work best you have to also use the sodium bi-carb which caused me a lot of burning and urethral spasms. I don't have that problem with the marcaine and it seems to last quite a while.

I think marcaine works a little better and lasts a little longer.
