So I have had IC for about two years now....just diagnosed about three weeks ago. So far I have been really lucky. My flares have just been pressure related and if they hit in the evening then they were gone by the next morning but not this time :(

I had my travel vacccines on Friday and not sure but I think they caused a flare (I travel overseas for business every few years) this flare is something I have never experiance-severe urgency with burning. Usually its just uncomfortable. I started on my Detrol hoping that would help and so far nothing...I cant stop peeing. I am so frustrated...all the tricks that I usually use are not working this time and this Saturday is my engagement party and I would love to be able to enjoy it without having to spend all the time in the bathroom...and i have two more vaccines the day before...

I felt better this morning (almost normal) but now I am back to peeing all the time..(although theh burning is gone) although maybe its because I am trying to drink a lot of water to flush it out?? I dont know but I am so frustrated and its hard to concentrate at work...

I have also decided that when I get back from my business trip to try the Emilron....I was scared to try but now that I am actually getting real flares...I want to try to treat this...

Sorry...just really upset and scared today. I am afraid that the urgency will never go away and I have never had a flare last this long :( Also my family doesnt even understand IC...I keep being told to drink Cranberry juice and my Mom doesnt understand that this is a lifetime thing...she thinks the Emilron would be like a week treatment or whatever...

I certainly hope this flare takes a hike soon for you! I know that it's a catch 22 for me - when I'd get stressed out over a flare, the worse it became and hung around longer, ugh. Have you tried like one of the bladder analgesics, like AZO Standard or something just to help you feel comfortable until it's gone? The baking soda in water? I am sure you have, lol, just throwing stuff out there, lol.

I know, a lot of people don't understand IC very well - have you given your family any literature on it? That might help, maybe. LOL It's really frustrating dealing with something no one seems to understand properly. If I had a nickel for every time I was told to drink cranberry juice or "just get some antibiotics for it, that's what I did when I had one", lol, I'd be a very wealthy girl!

Oh! And congrats on the engagement!!!!!! The party should be fun, just try to relax and think positive that this will go away soon - and you might want to call your doc and see if they can offer you any assistance towards making you more comfortable or even get checked for a sneaky UTI...

Hugs,
Tracey

Thank You :) Yeah I do the baking soda routine with bottled water and that usually does the drink...so far nothing...although wondering if I have to pee so much because I am almost done half a large bottle of water...I am lucky that I can hold it so I am trying that for now...maybe the Detrol will help later this week...

Cant get into to see the doctor...(Azo is not avail in Canada)think I will start again on the Qucertin (or however you spell it) and be really careful about what I eat (usually I can pinpoint but the only thing that I know of is my travel vaccines-odd)

I have been lucky to sleep through the night so far so I guess I should count my blessings....

Just hope the flare goes away or doesnt get worse after my second round of vaccines this Friday :(

I am just lucky that my fiance is really supportive :) Also going to my first local support group this Wed. I think it will be really great for me to meet people who actually have this!

So I am feeling much better...I went off the Detrol. The Detrol made me feel like I was retaining too much and the pressure was so much worse with it. I also started my Quercetin and felt MUCh better in a few hours so now I am back to taking it daily...
