I am new...my Dr & Uro think I have IC. I will be going for a cysto Sept 13. I am very confused right now...my bladder pain has eased down quite a bit maybe because I started eliminating certain foods...my Dr gave me some meds to try...Advil, Tylenol, T3's and Naproxin. Extra strengh Advil & Tylenol don't help, I don't want to take the T3's because of constipation, and I am afraid to take the Naproxin because I've read it can make it worse. Anyways, the most bothersome thing right now is the irritating pain in the urethra opening and it hurts when I sit. I don't get this everyday but today I've had it all morning long. I think it flares up when I am sleeping too long without irriating and then wake up with it. I have read a few people appyling lidocaine lotion to numb it. Any suggestions would really be appreciated!

Advil is a problem for many people with IC. Are you following an IC diet? You'll find food lists at the link in my signature below. I've never taken naproxin so can't answer that question.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Thanks, Donna for getting back to me...I have been looking and buying things recommended on the IC Diet. And we do have a Whole Foods/Capers in Canada that I can check out too. And the only pain meds I think have helped is a higher dosage of Tylenol that also is for Arthritis pain which my Dr recommended...it seemed to work a couple of times when I was in alot of pain so maybe I will take these as needed until I go for my cysto & get some treatment in anther 2/3 weeks...oh, the waiting!
