I don't know anything about the Hunner's Ulcer's, I hope you get some answers. Maybe, they have to do it, to get everything, and give them a better view. I don't really know, just thinking aloud. Maybe, he's just going to make the most of you being put under, and get a good look at your bladder again.

Rhonda,
Big Hug and A :kissing:.
I am so sorry you are feeling confused and scared. I know that the lasering of the hunners is done by cystoscopy. That is the tube system with the camera and light that allows the instruments to be safely inserted into the bladder. And it seems to me that they would probably have to dilate your bladder a bit in order to get a good view of things. But I would think that they might be able to skip the full dilation, but I do not know that for sure. I think you should call your doctor tomorrow and ask him about it. Don't spend the next week worrying about it. He can tell you if he is able to perform the procedure without fully dilating your bladder. If he can, you can tell him that you do not want to be fully dilated. If there is a choice in the matter, it should be yours to make.

Good luck!! I am praying for your surgery so that all will go smoothly. Hey, maybe it was the hunners that caused you to have such bad flares after hydrodistension. So maybe you will not have problems this time around since they will be gone!!!

Love ya,

Yeah, Dixie, I'm sorry :( But I think Audrey Rose is right... they need to distend your bladder a little bit, I think, so they can get a good view of where the Hunner's Ulcers are. I think if you talk to your doc about your concerns he might be able to help you out a little.

Good luck.... :)

Someone had already explained the cystoscopy is necessary to view your bladder so your doctor can deal with the ulcers. A hydrodistention is when water is put in your bladder and it is stretched. Your doctor will be better able to see the ulcers when your bladder is stretched. And the good thing is that some people do get real relief from just the stretching. I'm sure you will be sore for at least a few days, but try not to worry too much about it.

It's normal and natural to be a little nervous. Be sure to ask lots of questions so you'll feel more comfortable about the procedures.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Yes, be really specific with your doctor about what scares you & tell him exactly how long you felt bad & how much pain you had after your last cysto/hydro. When I told my doctor how scared I was, he remembered what I'd said & reminded me of how he would handle those issues right before I went into surgery. Also find out what kind of painkillers they'll be using & what you can take when you go home.

I didn't have hunners, but I had toredol in the IV, the bill also said they used morphine during the surgery, and I had Darvocet for afterwards, but only needed 2 doses of that.

It's perfectly natural & reasonable to be worried, so don't stress about going off the Lexapro, maybe you'll be okay when you get some reassurance on this. Maybe see how you feel when the surgery is done (and hopefully you feel way better!).

Will be praying for you and hope all goes well.

Hopefully with the hunner's ulcers gone the pain after the procedure will not be as bad as it was in the past. Sorry, I do not know about hunner ulcers. I will say a prayer that you feel much better!
