Hello all!

I have been on 50mg of Atarax at bedtime for one week now and I have not noticed any reduction in frequency at night, in fact I might even be waking up more to pee! I am living in South Korea right now and I am not seeing a doctor here. I bought them over the counter while visiting Malaysia and just did some online research to see what the common dosage was for IC patients.

Should I notice a difference right away or does it take some time to start working? I wanted to try this specifically for nigh time frequency, as pain is not one of my main symptoms and I can deal with the daytime frequency. Any suggestions or sharing of personal experiences with Atarax would be much appreciated!

Thanks :)

Kristen

Hi Kristen,

I know you probably have already thought of this, but are you sure you got Atarax if it was OTC? I have been on Atarax for years now and for me, it helped right away, like the first night. You also might need a higher dose, but that is something you should talk to a doctor about.

I am sure other people will chime in with their experiences.

What are you doing in South Korea?

Hi Julie!
Thanks for the quick reply. I am sure it is Atarax that I purchased because I spoke to the pharmacist first. I am from Canada, but I am teaching English in South Korea. It has been a good experience, but I have found it very challenging to eat here because I am also gluten intolerant and the cuisine here is generally spicy and gluten is hidden in almost everything!
Take Care:)

Hey Kristen, I know for me I had an increase in frequency when I first started taking it - I almost stopped, but had made a deal with myself that I would give it a fair chance, and after a week or so things started going pretty well and I am glad I stuck with it! It's one med that for me, I think really makes a difference with my bladder ;)
