View Full Version : Binge and Purge

Anyone resort to this.. to taste a "forbidden food?"
No, but it sounds like a really bad idea and a way to get lots of new problems... Binging & purging is dangerous and has ruined many lives - not worth it! If this is something you are currently doing and can't stop, please, please get help from a counselor, minister, doctor, 12 step program, etc...

Hi, I agree with Kadi. Also, stress can bring on flares. So, on top of everything else, the physical stress of binging and purging will very likely aggravate your IC. If there are foods that you really, really miss, why don't you ask if other ICers have found any good IC-friendly substitutes, other options, etc.? Sometimes I'm truly amazed at what folks have found in stores or figured out how to make IC-friendly for themselves. But, again, please don't consider binging and purging on anything (and, if you're doing it, please take steps to see a counselor). Taking really good care of yourself, in every way possible (both in terms of issues that are directly related to IC and in terms of those that are not), is the surest way to be in the best position to win your battles with IC. Best wishes, little bear

I would either stay away from the food or find a substitute. It is not worth putting your health at risk.

If you are doing this, I urge you to see your doctor as soon as possible. It is extremely dangerous to your health.
I agree with all the posts, do not even think of doing that, you will cause yourself more problems, and risk your health. Please do not do that to yourself, take care Iris.

If you ate something you weren't suppose to have, and then threw up, how do you know you would get it all out of your system? Of course, it's a very bad idea, but I'm not even sure it would get it all out. Please don't do it. When I worked in the hospital, someone did that and aspirated as she was making herself throw up. She was on a ventilator and died. No food is worth that.

Hi newshound! I was kind of wondering what you meant by your question? Is this a thought you have had or something you have tried? I know it can sound tempting - so don't feel like you are a bad person if you have thought of it before. IC sufferers are in a ton of pain and I'm sure all thoughts cross our minds. It took a lot of courage to ask that question. I hope that you have found some support here and will discuss this more deeply with someone you trust, such as your doctor.
Take Care and thanks for sharing -
