I took Ditropan yesterday. I believe 10mg. I had the worst indigestion, gas, and stomach cramps. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Are the side effects temporary. Im not sure if I should keep takin it or not since I took it for the first time yesterday.

I was on Ditropan for quite awhile and I didn't have any troubles asid from the dryness it can cause, ugh. I really wish I had a concrete answer for you on that - I can say if it were me, I would give it a shot for a few days, to see if the side-effects came from the med or something else as a coincidence. But, there are different meds out there that are in the same family, so maybe a different one might work better for you! ;)

Thanks. I took it again yesterday and I didnt have those same symptoms maybe it was an isolated incidence. How long did it take for it to work? I was given 10mg. She said that I can double up in a few weeks if needed. and what kind of symptoms did you have?

You know, I can't remember how long it took to work, but I know it wasn't too long, and once I took my pill it took about 30 min to kick in - I can remember counting the minutes, lol. I believe I took 5 mg - I took it 3x's a day. I opted to not take the extended release version so I could adjust my dose as needed - some days I didn't need all 3 doses etc.

I had horrible urethral spasms to start, then they turned into urethral and bladder spasms. Some days it would be enough to make me catch my breath if I was standing up, it would feel like some one reached up and pinched and pulled my urethra, it was awful. The bladder would feel like I had to "push", it was like I had no choice when voiding - I've described it as it felt like giving birth to my bladder - it was awful!

Hope this helps a little bit! :)

I just restarted Ditropan XL after being off it for about two years while pregnant and breast feeding. It's always helped me most and tends to work pretty quickly. Are you taking the XL or regular? I did the regular for a while when my husband was out of work since it was cheaper without insurance coverage. That upset my stomach and gave me heartburn. The XL doesn't. Just a thought.
