Hello all,

I've been in a flare-up for about a week now. It started the day after I had sex with a non-latex condom (the lifestyles Skyn brand). I am trying to suss out if I am sensitive to condoms, period, or if this was just coincidental with my monthly PMS-induced flare (it was just a little early for that). So, I would like to know if anyone out there reacts to the non-latex condoms as well as to the latex.

(I should add that I haven't been diagnosed w/IC because we are still in the process of doing all the tests. Potassium test was negative, urine tests and CT scan normal, but the during the physical exam the urogyn. said my bladder had dropped due to childbirth, which I guess means PFD?)

Thanks in advance!!

I had problems with any condoms that had spermacide! Oh those made the area burn like crazy, lol. So, we bought regular lubricated or even non-lubricated - I always have Astroglide handy anyway to keep things happy and not flaring. Hope this helps a bit! :)

And 'up' for this thread.

My boyfriend wants to have sex with condoms only from now on. He feels there is a connection between us having sex and my flares. I'm soooo in denial. But part of me realises he is right.

But, as this is no UTI, I don't see how it should help, and I'm sort of scared, because I remember condoms being a kind of sort of trigger from the past.

So, trial and error might be the only way to find out what works for me, but what's your take on condoms?

I generally use the non-lubricated ones with lube that I know won't flare me. Since I'm not allergic to latex, I haven't noticed any issues. (Please keep in mind though that this is only based on having done this once or twice as intercourse still, unfortunately, isn't a regular thing for me and my husband.) I'll be interested to see what others say.
