As of this morning, Cantata Labs has chosen to withdraw the current IC Prelude urine test pending further study. They hope to reintroduce the test in the near future. The IC Prelude Test, announced just weeks ago, was to be the first urine test to be marketed to assist in the diagnosis of IC. They now feel that additional research must be performed.
I'll let you know as soon as I hear more. I'm veryyyyy disappointed.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That stinks. Do you know what the problem was? Too many false positives and/or negatives? If that's the case they can probably take 6 months to a year and re-engineer the reagents and the assay protocol.
If there's been some sort of research that's come out though, showing that APF isn't as predictive as originally thought, then we've got a problem.
BOOOOOOOO again.

Oh, wow! I just made a copy of all the information from Cantata's website about this test and took it to my doctor's office this afternoon!
He's on vacation for a week and was going to get back to me after reading it. Well, I guess I'll be doing the cystoscopy for sure then.

Oh my, I'm very disappointed. I have been the IC Support Group Leader for Rhode Island for six years. Last month I announced the new Prelude Urine Test was available at Cantata Labs. This test was going to help clarify whether a person has IC or not in our support group and I'm sure for countless others. I'm wondering what went wrong? When I tried to click on the Cantata Labs web site, it's currently unavailable. Keeping my fingers crossed this test will be reintroduced in the near future...........Leslie

 I don't mean to be an optimist hear, but, do we really need a test in a box to tell us we have IC? I know I have it. You know you have it. It makes it's self pretty clear to me!
OK, I feel bad that we all have to succomb to the nasty cystoscopy for the benefit of convincing the physician and statistics:pray: Excuse me, I do appreciate their efforts sincerely. But for you, my dear IC babes:thumbsup: , take care of yourselves with the great IC resources we have and stay happy when we can :hi:
I'm new to the forum. Everybody has to have an opinion, you know :D

Tracy, you're absolutely right!! I forget that diagnosis always requires proof; not simply a personal history or subjective opinion from the patient. Even the most understanding doctor can't Dx w/o it.
So now I'm bumbed like everybodyelse. I'd sleep, but my leg cramps won't let me. Don't want to take any more meds so I can be awake tomorrow :hmm:
