I just had an endoscopy yesterday and it revealed that I have Candidal Esophagitis, described as: Painful swallowing and oral lesions are symptoms of Candidal esophagitis, a fungal infection of the esophagus. Candidal esophagitis is treated with antifungal medications. Recovery is dependent on extent of immunosuppression. Basically a yeast infection in my esophagus I believe. They also found Gastritis.
I am 60 years old and have only had 1 yeast infection in my whole life until this IC thing has appeared. I have now had 3 since Feb of this year, including this one in my esophagus. I am on Diflucan 200mg for 14 days. Just wondering if anyone else has had this or even heard of it. I have considered myself a very healthy person all my life but now I just don't get it.....last week I was diagnosed with gallstones and yesterday's colonoscopy, diverticulosis in all my colon (I think this is pretty common??) on top of this candidal esophagitis. Oh, can't forget my IC friend either:lmao:
Guess these "Golden Years" are turning into "Medical Years".
Thanks!
