Has anyone had a problem taking multivitamins. My Urologist recently started me on Elmiron. I have had no problems with it and was doing really well. When I went back for my check-up, after being on it for six weeks, she said she needed to do a blood test to make sure my liver was doing o.k.(because of being on the Elmiron). A week later someone from her office called and said that the Dr. wanted me to either take a multivitamin or drink a supplementary drink. She said that my protein and albumen was low. I started taking the vitamin the next day. Since then I have had more burning and pain in my bladder. I cannot connect it to anything I am eating. I try to stick to the Interstitial Cystitis diet and have not eaten anything that should bother me. The only thing I can think of that I am doing different is the vitamin. I am just wondering if anyone else has had problems with multivitamins.

Most ICers cannot take multi-vitamins. Some have success with kids multi vitamins, however.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Mercola makes a children's multivitamin with buffered vitamin C. I found it at one of the big vitamin chains.

Unfortunately, most IC patients have trouble with multivitamins.
Here is an article that lists the top foods/substances that irritate the IC bladder:

Wondering if you could remedy the protein & albumen lows with specific foods instead of a supplement?

I seem to do ok with 1/2 a flintstone vitamin. I know I need more than just a half, but that's what I am comfortable with at the moment....
