View Full Version : Scheduled For Hydro On 5-13-04!

I'm finally having my hydro and a bladder biopsy on 5-13-04. I'm quite nervous because of what I've been reading here about many patients coming out of it worse than before. :yikes: I would like to know from others who have been through these procedures, "How long did it take you to recover? and "How long did you stay home from work?" I want to have a general idea so I can know what to tell my supervisors at work.
Any thoughts, advice and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zanni2

Hydrodistention has been a major treatment for me during all of my 29 years with IC and I have had the procedure done 35 times now.
I am retired now, but when I worked it was in an office with a bathroom attached so I could go when I needed to. I tried to schedule a hydro for a Tuesday or Wednesday and would plan to go back to work the following Monday.
I hope the procedure goes well for you --- and that you are one of those who experience improvement.
Warm hugs,
Donna
My cysto/hydro was on a Wednesday & I was back at work Monday. (I probably could've gone back to work Friday, but I don't have a convenient bathroom at work).
I didn't have a biopsy. That may add a little healing time to it. Ask your doctor about that. I didn't have much pain, just more frequency for a few days. I had Darvocet to use at home afterwards, but only needed it once or twice the day after. It also helped to tell my doctor what I was scared about during my preop appointment.
I read posts online & they scared the heck out of me. None of what I was worried about happened.
I got better bladder capacity out of it, a beautiful set of photos (yeah, gonna make a bathroom wall gallery-just kidding!), and a diagnosis, so it was worth it.
Good luck & I'll be praying for you Zanni

Hi there...
When I had my cysto/hydro, it was on a Thursday. I went back to work the following Tuesday. I probably could have done it Monday actually, but I had had a lot of chest and lung pain from the anesthesia because I am asthmatic, and my husband insisted I stay home one more day to make sure I was okay.
I think 4-5 days is pretty common.
