I happend to give a young woman some advice at healthboards.com about ic, sounds like she has ic. here is her post

HI i am 21 yr old female and have constant bladder pressure for about 5 months...i constantly pee to try to ease the pressure which seems to help for a few minutes but the pressure soon returns a couple of minutes later. It almost seems to be a burnig inside of me around the bladder...or it seems that is something leaning against the bladder. There seems to be no ryme or reason why the pressure starts it seems to be worse sometimes around menstration but not always... i have been to the gyno and a urologyst. The gyno found nothing wrong. The uroligst tested me for kiddney stones, pelvic and ovarian cysts, uti's bladder infections....They alll came back Negative...and they put me on 3 various medications in case which none seemed to help. He also did a dicatherter and stretched the urithera and did test to see if the bladder emptied properly... all the test came back normal... I don't know what else it could be...if anyone has anything that could help please post...
also my friend was listing to the howard stern show and on his news portion the lady mentioned a condiiton that women general get that is not normally detected by docotors it inovles the symptoms of bladder pressere...she thinks it begins with a U or and E if anyone has any info please please help!!! thank you

and here is what i said back to her

Sounds like you have Interstitial Cystitis and thats what I have and there is no cure but there are treatments though. I think you should tell your uro to check and see if you have Interstitial Cystitis, You can look it up online also to learn more about it. By the way, Some uro's don't know anything about Interstitial Cystitis, If your uro give you any problems please find another uro, Thats what I had to do. Sometimes it takes many doctors to find out whats wrong, There are many women with Interstitial Cystitis that have been battling with doctors for yrs before they were diagnos with (IC) and there are women out there that is suffering in silence having no idea whats wrong them, Anyway there are men with ic too, But it affects mostly women, 90% of women at the most. It's hard to diagnos it wont show up on urine cultures, Ummm, Don't let any doctor tell you that it's all in your head, This condition is real.

Sleepyangel, I'm sure she'll appreciate your suggestion to her that she may have IC. At least now she'll have something concrete to suggest to her Uro and she can also do research on her own and obtain information that will help her in obtaining the correct diagnosis for her condition if that is indeed what she has.

I think you have lived up to your name (angel) to help someone today.

You did very well by suggesting to her that it might be IC --- if she decides to do a search on the internet, she'll very likely find us.

I think you did very well in responding. It's people like you, who care about others, that makes it easier to cope with having IC.

Sending warm hugs,
Donna
