So, I've just completed my first four Uracyst treatments. I've been sure to hold them as long as I can and to roll around with them etc. Not noticing any difference and not sure what to do: Keep going with another 4 treatments or try some rescue instillations to find some relief.
IcyAngel: Why did you feel that Uracyst would be less effective with Lyrica? I am taking Lyrica to control my pain while taking the instillations. What did you hear about taking both together?

Thanks for any advice everyone!

I asked my dr and a few scientists what meds I should avoid. Lyrica, neurontin, elmiron, heparin and lidocaine was on the list. Uracyst is fickle. It's a live cell and needs to attach to the bladder to form a leakproof layer. It replaces the GAG layer we all are missing. I'm not really good at explaining the science of it.
That's why it can't get too cold or hot. It's useless if it isn't kept at the right temp. I have to watch the weather before I order it to ensure it has the best temp to ship.
When I was in the trial here in the US before I was kicked out, all of those meds were on the list of not to use during the treatments. I had to give them a list of what I was taking and each med had to be oked. I thought those restrictions were to ensure that it was the Uracyst working but it was really to make ure you weren't taking anything that would hinder the treatments.

I look at it as a crude stem cell because it is suppose to help regrow the GAG layer over time or at least attach for a certain amount of time to make one. This is like no other instill out there. All of the other stuff is synthetic such as Elmiron or Hep which is a drug. Uracyst isn't a drug. It's made from cow throat tissue.

Wow! Fascinating information there IcyAngel! Hmm....thinking then that I should re-try off the Lyrica. If you took the Uracyst it would be not be ok if 2 days later you had a rescue instill?

I'm glad I could clear that up for you. It's hard to understand it because we are so use to an instillation of chemicals. Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate is part of what the GAG layer is made up of. Uracyst is just putting that back into your bladder. The better environment you give it to work the better results you will have. I avoid exercise 24 hours afterwards and no pool or baths for thae same amount of time. I do my instills before bedtime so it has the whole night to work it's magic. Your body heals itself when you sleep so i figured it was the perfect time to do my instills. That's why my first instill I was able to sleep 7-8 hours without getting up to void. I know I sound nutty but I saved up all of my christmas money to go to Canada to get this. I planned every step out so I could get the best results. That trip cost me about $1000 including the uracyst.
I hope you have better results after you're off the lyrica. If you have any questions PM me or e-mail me IcyAngel00@gmail.com

Update:

Just finished the 5th instill last week and am improving. Less frequency and urgency is way done. I"m going to keep going because I figure I need a few more since I know that my GAG layer is badly damaged ( I was told so my a uro when he saw it). Fingers crossed.....
