Chicago area IC specialist

Hi - can anyone recommend a great MD for IC treatment (besides the very few listed in the professionals listing on this board)?

Mine is okay, but not willing to prescribe any pain medications and I'm getting desperate. I can barely go to work (main problem is burning) and barely fall asleep. Codeine works like a charm but he will not prescribe it (had some already from an injury).

I started Elmiron and have done bladder instillations. Also taking pyridium and aloe.

I go to Dr. Sean George at Illinois Masonic in the Lincoln Pk. neighborhood in Chicago. He is a good doc - a urogyne - knows a lot about IC and is a nice, compassionate person. I highly recommend him.

If you dont mind a little drive, I highly recommend Dr. Burstein in Dekalb, IL. Ive been going to him for a few years and highly recommend him. I have a friend with a more severe case than what I have, and she raves about him also. I hope you find some relief soon!:pray:

Hi. I have a severe case of IC and Im trying to learn about Dr. Bernstein before I make an appt. when I called, I learned he does not support self instills, so I would always have to make the drive. And I'm currently not driving well. Any hints on what treatments he does support?

Am also open to any other suggestions for doctors.

Dr. B had me on Elavil, antispasmatic, and pain meds. A friend of mine that sees him is very happy with how he has managed her pain. I dont think she's on here, and Im not sure exactly what she's on. I know that she has severe IC and is not able to work.
