I am travelling to Dallas on the 2nd of June for 2 weeks. I can't wait. We used to live in Oklahoma for 5 years, but had to come back to England 14 months ago. My husband is trying his best to get another job back in the US, we love it so much.

Anyway my fiend in Dallas has invited me for 2 weeks and I am estatic, The only downfall is the flight., I always take lots of bottled water with me and I also get an aisle seat, so that I don't have to disturb anyone by the amount of times I will use the restroom.

Sounds like you'll have a good time here in the States!

I'm guessing you're flying coach? You might want to see if you can request an emergency exit seat so you have a little bit more room to stretch out and get comfortable if your bladder starts bothering you. Can you buy those ThermaCare pads in the UK? It might be nice to have one of those too, if heat helps relax your bladder. Those long transoceanic flights can be hard to deal with. Do you have a direct flight or are you changing planes in the States?

I'm flying to London in August, so I'll have my share of it too this summer -- just going in the other direction! :D

Hi poetgirl

I am flying direct to Dallas from Gatwick London. I prefer to do a direct flight while I am travelling on my own.

I love the US, esp Texas and Oklahoma.

I hope you have a nice time in London. Are you staying with family or friends?

Thanks for the tips

You're lucky to do a direct flight. Going from Atlanta to London, I have to go through Paris which I'm not happy about because Air France ALWAYS loses my luggage! (At least on the way home, I have a direct flight.) But I can't be too fussy -- it's a free ticket. ;)

I'm staying with my friend while I'm in London -- should be lots of fun!

Speaking of Texas, I'll be in Dallas in sweltering hot July!

You will have a great flight I am sure, just do the ailse seat, close to the bathroom if you can. I live in Fort Worth and it is so nice here right now. I love it here in Texas.

I don't know if you do sewing but if you do, you might beg your friend to take you to the fabric warehouses and outlets in Dallas on Perth St. and a few more on Harry Hines nearby. I haven't been over yet, but that is on my to do list this summer. I guess it is great and there is fabric of all kinds. One place I guess sells zippers for 25 cents.

There is so much to see and do in this area, I hope you enjoy it here!:)

Hi Dyno

I have stayed in Dallas several times. As we used to live in Oklahoma, we used to visit Texas quite often esp Dallas. I am staying with a friend in Euless near Fort Worth Airport. I just love Dallas and going to all the Mall's.

What is the weather like there now? Here it is cold and wet and I can't wait to get in the warmer climate.

So you do know this area. Right now we are having highs in the mid 80's and lows in the 60's. This is our rainy time of the year but this week is beautiful. Oh the malls! If you haven't been here for a few years there is a new mall in Frisco that is nice, Stonebriar center. They say we rival New York City with shopping.

Have a good trip. If your hubby would find a job in this area, we are blessed with good IC Dr.s in this area. Between Dallas and Fort Worth there are a lot of Dr.s who know and treat IC. Fort Worth was just voted one of the most liveable cities. We have so much here to offer for kids.

Have fun!:)

You'll want to be sure to let the airline know about your diet restrictions so you won't feel starved when you arrive. Just once I forgot and I ended up not having a meal for almost a full day. Thankfully, I had some snacks with me.

Have a wonderful time!

Hugs,
Donna

Hey have a great flight, and time in Texas. I am originally from England, so have done the Atlantic crossing quite a few times. Have also lived in Texas, San Antonio to be exact and loved it. Good advise from Donna regarding the meals. Have a safe trip both of you gals, and a great time, Iris. :hi: :flower:

I live 75 miles North of Dallas on the Red River. The weather is really nice now except for the occasional storms. My hubby is a weather watcher for our City. So he has to go out in these storms. I use to go with him but now can not be away from the bathroom that long. Have a great time here and shop till you drop. I have to wait till someone will take me and I rent a wheel chair from the mall and someone pushes me. Take care and hugs from Texas.
