elavil and side effects?

Hi
I have been taking generic Elavil for about 3 months now. Suddenly about two weeks ago my leg started having some burning in it, then from there my hands and feet tingle like they are going numb. I had been fine with the 25 mg dose at night time.
I have also had gastric bypass and got worried that my vitamin levels had gone down or something and maybe I was developing neuropathy. However, my blood work came back fine today. That is when I called the Urologist.
The nurse said I was going to have to go off it. That I could develop a reaction to it after taking the Elavil for several months. Have any of you guys had this problem?
I am worried if I go off the Elavil the horrible bladder pain might return. I can't say that the Elavil helped, but I can't say it didn't either.....

I would definitely talk to your doc about these effects and maybe try going off of the elavil.....i had horrible body aches develop after a year of use (i do admit that i am not entirely sure if it was the elavil or maybe an interaction with other meds at that time but the effects did stop after stopping elavil)
I would have burning all over my body and everything with elavil and it was weird how it was a year after use.....
i would definitely consider that it would be the elavil....
one med helped SO much with the effects of that though.....flexeril....
so talk to your doc about the effects you are having and try flexeril (its what helped me get off of elavil and help with the body aches and then i was fine for a while with that)
so for sure see your doc

I spoke with my doctor after being on Elavil for 3 or 4 months. He told me to stop taking it, and I had developed an alergic reaction. Once I stopped within a few days my calf stopped burning....
