Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your pain. I just recently had a recovery instil. I forgot how much fun that ISN'T.
When my instils first began, I always had trouble relaxing enough to let the cath past my prostate. I had a lot more pain and burning in my prostate then. My most recent instil left more pain/burning at the end of my penis. Which has led to issues with sex and urgency.
Generally things got better after a week. If you are still feelings things, I would think about calling your doc.

I agree!!! That catheter induced discomfort should have resolved by now.
Also have you found our rescue instillation tips?? If not, check them out at: http://www.ic-network.com/treatments/
Then click on the link that goes to rescue instillations.. and you'll find a list of things that might helpmake them more comfortable.

Thank God the pain has resided. I ended back on Elmiron, cystoprotek and URO wrote a script for flavoxate. It took about a week. Strangely enough, the pain came from the distinct graduation where the catheter passes into the prostrate, usually the point where you wince. It felt like a tightening. Thanks everyone for the insights and advice.
