Hi,

I've got a nasty UTI. I just started taking Macrobid (5 day) and requested a new script for Urelle. I was informed that its no longer available and the only recourse I have is Pyridium.

Can this be true? There is nothing else, in terms of prescription strength medication available?

If so this is just unbelievable!!!

Thanks for any information/suggestions.

Haven't heard anything like that out here (Texas). In fact, just refilled my prescription for it a couple of weeks ago.

Walgreens was out of it and said they didn't know when or if they would have it again last time I tried to refill my Rx. It wasn't working for me so I wasn't too concerned. I bought the OTC version but it still doesn't work for me.
Hope you find a replacement.

She was quite definitive about it. "There is nothing but Pyridium - that's it!"

I quizzed her back and forth about it - said I "couldn't believe it" "what's a person to do now?" "incredible that the pharmaceutical industry has NOTHING to offer people who are suffering but an OTC product?"

I've been using two old packets of samples so far and I'm afraid to run out as I won't be able to sleep tonight. Yikes!

Hi,
You can ask your doctor for Levsin-- which is available as the generic for Hyoscyamine-- sp? close.... It's very inexpensive and is the antispasmodic in Urelle. Maybe if you added that with Pyriumdium until you can find Urelle again.... that would get you through.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the great information. You guys rock!

The plot thickens:

I called back for more information and this time she said she would go and discuss it with the doctor (Urogyne.) He told her that Urelle is NOT off the market but pharmacy's aren't stocking it!! That's all she got out of him.

This is weird - why aren't they stocking it??

She was able to scrounge some up for me that was still on the shelf at my CVS pharmacy but after that no more.

I scanned the 'net for information and other than one recall a year ago I couldn't find anything about this. Must be something about that recall...

I posted earlier, out here I do know that Wal-Mart is either not carrying it out out of stock for forever long it takes (to me thats the same as not carrying it);CVS has a limited stock but HEB had it. Maybe try and find another pharmacy?

I use UTA and get it from CVS...it works just like Urelle.
