An IC patient visited my office yesterday. She reports that she and her family have season passes to Disneyland and that she can thoroughly enjoy the park EVEN with flaring IC. Why? Because Disneyland offers disability passes to patrons who can't stand in lines. She brings a doctors letter, goes to the office right near the front of the park to receive her daypass. This then allows her to go to the front of the lines at the rides. She can also bring five other people with her in her party. Therefore, she doesn't have to stand in lines, then run to the restroom, etc. etc. This is fantastic!! I hadn't even thought of this... but for patients who really want to get out and have a nice vacation, the Disneyland resorts may be perfect for you this summer!

I knew Disneyland was the happiest place on earth for some reason. Actually, it is one of our favorite places to visit, now it will be even more fun.
Thanks for the info, Jill.

That is just too cool. Is Disneyworld the same?

Funny I hadn't thought of that...I always tell the parents of my disabled kiddos about that when they go. I guess I haven't come to grips with being "disabled" yet, even though I went today and finally picked up a parkingpermit. (that was a depressing thing) But, it will keep me from walking miles when I go back to school this summer.
Thanks for reminding us!

If I am not mistaken Cedar Point in Ohio has disability passes, that sure is nice to know because after standing in line you finally get to the front and have to pee you sure would be ticked....
thanks for passing the info:)

Most of the major theme parks have disability passes...I've passed that information along to my families many times. However, check ahead by getting on their websites and look up customer services (or whatever) .. sometimes, you have to have an application completed before you go...(especially with an invisible disability like IC)
Good luck:kiss: Enjoy your summers! While you are all trying to figure out how to have fun in the sun, I'm going to be in school. Wah. I hope you have fun....Don't get sunburnt (Funny, like 4 older men have told me to put on sunscreen in the past 4 days...it's been HOT...I've been wearing shorts...I finally asked the last guy if my white legs are freaking people out...The guy laughed and said I was pretty pale!!! ) No skin cancer for me, eh?

Oh My Goodness, I never thought of that for IC patients.
DUH?? My friend's mom has MS and we used to go to Walt Disney World all the time. They make it very easy for diabled people to have a great time. And we loved the fact that we got to stay with her. I guess I am like you Tracey, I still haven't grasped that I have a disablility.
Thanks Jill for the super great info!!

Do the rides in these parks ever set you up for a flare--- like car rides do? We are talking about taking some time at the local theme park here in our community but it worries me that the actual ride will get me in pain.. But I'm going to check into the passes.... although I wish we had some "mark" on the outside that said disabled so others really believe...
