I haven't, but it's one of the known side effects. That's why regular blood tests to monitor things are important. Because I already have bleeding problems, they're especially careful about running the tests.

Having a bad flare at the moment, so that is why I am contemplating returning to elmiron even tho I had blood in the urine after 3 1/2 months usage and after two attempts in the early 90's. Out of all my trials over the years elmiron did give me limited success. I have heard of nosebleeds, but have not talked to anyone with blood in the urine as a side effect with elmiron. I have had kidney stones, but that was just recent. I am new at posting and computer conversing so is taking me a little while to get on to board etc. After many years as an IR repairman I had to
give up my job in 92,so life has been a challenge at times.

No bleeding problems, but I do bruise more easily than I used to. Overall, I have tolerated Elmiron very well.

I started Elmiron in June 03 and went off it in March 04 as it didn't seem to be making a lot of difference. Have been on Elvail (Amitriptilyn) for the past fifteen years and found Elmiron no better than Elmiron. I had some blood in the urine about four months ago which never occurred again. My hair has become very thin, which I didn't know if it were due to the Elmiron or menopause. Anyhow, Elmiron works differently on everyone I think. You need to be on it for at least 6 months to really see.

Good Luck

I haven't had any problems with bleeding. I just had oral surgery last week, too, and did fine.

I did not have bleeding problems but did have some problems with sores that I had trouble getting to heal in my nose. Just in fact got off the phone with the company to inquire about some things, since I have been off it a month now and feel better. In my case we feel that my sulfa allergy is what came into play for me. So I won't be going back on it. A small amount of people with sulfa allergies will react to one of the componets in it and I did.

Where are you bleeding? Do you mean you got a cut and then it won't stop bleeding? I didn't have any problem with this, but I would always mention to my dentist, for example, that I was on Elmiron.

As for the blood in the urine - there could be a different reason you have this symptom that's not related to Elmiron. I would suggest getting that checked out by a doctor.

Take care,

The bleeding was in the urine and that occured at approx the 3 1/2 month time period on the elmiron. This symtom happened both times I tried elmiron, and cleared up once I discontined the dosage. I should have dried lower dosage and checked with the doctor further about source of bleeding.
