I do believe one of my parakeets has got a hurt leg now.(or claw) Why? It has been on the bottom more often. The bottom is not all smooth and solid. OK. We know how bird cages are made. Regardless, one of her legs has been going through.(in between)(like being clumsy and misstepping) That had not been happening before. I was observing some more. She got up on the perch, but one leg was hanging off. That was not happening before. (hmmm) I don't know what to do. I am not sure anything can be done. I am not a happy camper right now.

Aww--I'm sorry your bird is hurt. It's so hard when our pets are suffering. Vet's office tomorrow morning? I hope she's ok soon,

In our area we have "emergency vets" where we can go after hours or on weekends and holidays. The charged us about $80 when we took our spotted doggie there, but she saved her life! I hope your bird isn't injured.

I hope your parakeet will be okay. It's so hard to see our pets sick or injured!

I just read on one website that it is National Pet Week. OK. I will call a vet's office,or two, if she is still losing her balance on the perch in the morning. Yep! The leg does not look messed up to me. I am tired and sitting here with IC and a brace on my neck, but I am more concerned about the bird, Daisy, right now. Yep!

We do get attached to our pets, don't we.

So sorry to hear about little "Daisy". Hope tomorrow brings you some answers.
I've had birds myself and they are very special.

The vet said that Daisy seems to be having vertigo. That means that I have to squirt an antibiotic in her mouth. Of course, I was correct. He did see her fall to the left. (although I did think the left leg looked OK) Regardless, I fell to the right with vertigo. Oh, well! :dizzy::(:angel:

Statesboro ~

That's such great news....with tiny little pets like yours I always worried when mine got sick that it would be too difficult to treat. Although I've never heard of vertigo being diagnosed in a bird, or any animal for that matter, I'm so happy you can treat her!

Good luck and hope Daisy is a good parakeet and takes her medicine easily!!

I'm glad there is something you can do for your little pet. When I had vertigo I was dizzy and wobbly in all directions!

When I've had vertigo I wasn't falling in any direction because I couldn't begin to get up to be able to fall down!

How is Daisy tonight? Has the medicine had any positive effects? I hope so!

She has been given the medication twice so far. She acts OK sometimes. Then there are times that she moves like she is strung out as well.

I went to take a whiz a little bit ago. OK. I came back and found that Daisy had croaked on me. I think I actually threw a tantrum as I was screaming and crying and hitting the wall. Regardless, vertigo does not make people croak. Ok. I can see if vertigo made someone lose balance and fall and bang their head. (or whatever) Oh, well! The other parakeet is actling like she is actually aware. I guess I can let that be all now.

Statesboro ~

I'm terribly sorry to hear about Daisy. I've lost parakeets and a cockatiel and it broke my heart. They just seem to tiny and helpless. You tried your best for her.

Hope you're feeling better,
Ginger

I'm so sorry you lost your pet. You may need another one quickly to make the other one happy again. Birds who are accustomed to sharing a cage will become very lonely if they are suddenly alone. My heart goes out to you.

I have purchased another one by now. I have had three to croak on me so far. One of the original ones is still with me. I have never seen it acting messed up so far. I don't know how many times that I will keep buying. Geez! At least, Petco currently has them at $16 only.(sale) It's green, black, and yellow. Oh, well!
