Has anyone had a cold that's lasted for 6 weeks?

I caught this thing on March 21st, a week later was even sicker & had 7 days of Keflex because they thought it was a sinus infection, but then the ENT specialist took me off that & a month later I'm still sick! And now it's back to yellow mucus, sinus pressure & body aches.

What the heck is this? And how do I get rid of it?
I'm allergic to penicillin, sulfa, tetracycline, erythromycin, and cipro.

I see the ENT again on Monday. I hope he's got some ideas. 3 weeks ago, he gave me a sinus rinse bottle (NeilMd with saline packets), Nasonex spray, and told me to take Benadryl at night. I've done all this & am still sick.

:grouphug: I occasionally get colds in the winter that last that long. I was lucky this past winter. I had one or two that only lasted about a week or two each. I hope you get some relief soon.

I have to wonder if part of your problem could be pollen season? I don't usually have huge pollen problems, but if I catch a cold, then the pollen bothers me more than usual. I usually just sneeze and get a runny nose if the pollen is blowing.

I hope you feel better soon.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Just before Thanksgiving I had a sinus, cold thing that lasted about 7+ weeks. I finally went to the doctor, was given Flonase and Cipro. I didn't take the Cipro, but used the Flonase and of course, about $100.00 and 5 days later it was gone. I'm really thinking more virus or allergy. Feel like I basically would have gotten better anyways!

Hope you're feeling better soon! :flower::flower::flower: I know it can wear you out.

I had a similar experience last winter with one respiratory thing after another. A cycle from which I didn't escape for months. It isn't any fun!
