I am back to having frequency every half hour and when I void the pain continues. This is the most annoying part for me. How do know if your having a flare, have a infection , or if your retaining urine ? I know calling my doctor and checking urine would be the best the office is not open till tomorrow. I feel embarrassed when I make these calls and they find nothing. The only thing different I can think of is I started a new medicine last Monday. I have been taking my pain meds since friday when this started and I get some relief but not total. Looks like I will have to make another trip to my doctor unless this stops soon.

Kelly, They do have home test kits you can buyn at the drug store, maybe you could try that today if you wanted. I know it can be real frustrating.

I seemed to be flaring quite a bit for several months, then I stopped taking my Elmiron for other reasons and my flares have gotten better. So we all react to different things. I hope you and your Dr. can figure yours out.:)

Kelly,
I hope you get the answers you need to make you feel better!!
This 'ol bladder stuff is the pits, I know............Take care of yourself and don't feel embarassed when you go in and it turns out to be nothing. That's what they get paid for!
And you need to make sure it isn't an infection.

The home tests work really well for some ----- but they have never worked for me. I have had 3 infections the home tests missed, so I quit buying them.

I hope you can get tested --- I always feel embarassed about that, too. I usually say, "I need to determine if this is a flare from the IC or if it is from a UTI." My docs have been very understanding, but I know how you feel. :kissing:

Hi kelly sorry you are feeling badly again. I know some of the other girls use the uti kits at home i had one also but it would tell me my urine was fine even when i had a true uti. even my doctor said it wouldnt find all bat. in the urine. I don't know the way it works tho.
:(
I do hope you feel better soon I know its a Sunday but if you feeling this badly maybe you need to call your uro and take a trip to the er. I know none of us like the er and waiting and sometimes we even run up on those doctor who dont know a thing about ic. but if you have a uti its better to get it taking care of asap.
sending you hugs and prayers plz let me know how you are.
Rhonda:pray:

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have tried the uti kits and since I also have micro blood in my urine the nurse at my doctors office told me they are not 100%. It is becoming very painful and I may not wait till tomorrow. My hubby wants me to try to wait so I am going to if I can. Thanks you are all so wonderful:love: ,

I feel your pain. LITERALLY:headbang: It drives you crazy. This whole disease is such a vicious cycle. I do think you should run it past your doctor. Maybe he'll just do a quick culture. At least that can rule out uti. I hope you do feel better...

They can catheterize you, and give you some relief!

I really hope you feel better soon. I know you are miserable!

I hope you have reached your doctor and will be finding some relief soon.

Somehow, it always seems like I start having problems outside of office hours, but if my uro is not on call, there is somebody on call from that office so I can call. Sometimes I get sent to ER, but it's better than spending the entire night in pain.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Kelly, I am sorry about the UTI but glad you got in to see your Dr. I wonder if it is possible in the future if you have this hit on the weekend if you could take a sample into your hospital lab. I just remembered that a family Dr. I had about 14 years ago told me when I got another UTI or should I say symptoms of one, on a weekend, to call and have the Dr. on call make a phone call to the lab to take a urine spec. in. He told me because of the IC and how it irritated my bladder worse with a UTI to always have my urine cultured to make sure I was being treated right. Just a thought.

I hope you feel better soon.:)

Kelly,
Sorry it took me so long to send my best wishes for a speedy recovery from this UTI. Been a little self focused lately. Now I'm gonna try some American Idol therapy. Still think it's a travesty Jennifer Hudson got voted off.

Take care,
Barb
